Qatari minister dies in car accident

Doha: Qatari Commerce Minister Shaikh Fahd Bin Jasem Bin Mohammad Al Thani has been killed in a car accident, the official QNA news agency reported on Friday.
The accident happened late on Thursday when a vehicle coming in the opposite direction collided with Shaikh Fahd's vehicle, according to the local Ash Sharq daily.
The minister died instantly and a fellow passenger was hospitalised, the newspaper said.
Shaikh Fahd took office last July when Qatar's emir enlarged the government by creating new ministries.
Condolences sent to Shaikh Hamad
Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Friday sent a cable of condolence to Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, on the death of Shaikh Fahad Bin Jassem Bin Mohammad Al Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Minister of Enterprises and Trade.
Similar cables were sent to the Emir of Qatar by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
