The 2022 soccer World Cup in Qatar could take place in January or February to avoid the scorching temperatures of the summer months in the desert state, FIFA Executive Committee member Franz Beckenbauer said yesterday.
Beckenbauer, who won the 1974 World Cup as West Germany captain and also coached his nation to the 1990 title, said hosting the tournament during the winter would be an alternative.

Well this would be a good move. Most of the European clubs would be having their winter break at that time.

Only the EPL would have a problem isnt it? Who knows that could be a chance for England to win the cup itself...

12 years is a long time to think it over! World cup is a world sport event and as such, it need a little "bending" on schedule that would fit the WHOLE world and not only a particular region where climate is cool!

GodFather.

Good thinking..And practical solution..Can be done. It will be no problem with the Asian and South American football federations, Now the question is will UEFA nations buy into this?

Would be good all round..:)
