Qatar is rich country but where is richness, where you can see richness in Qatar!!!!!!!!!...

just look at basic facilities like roads ,public toilet ,parks, beach or bus stands are poor than the poor Asian nations.

i want everyone should visit Doha bus stand & toilet and industrial area roads and wakara beach.

can anyone tell me where is richness.... are we looking at only at city cntr or other malls or five star hotels.........we Hope in future this areas will be taken care for developments.

you have more wealth in real terms.

Basically, that means that your purchasing power is greater. As a country, if the average citizen's purchasing power is greater than the average purchasing power of another country's citizens, you can consider the first country more wealthy. And by "wealth in real terms" and "purchasing power" I mean your ability to purchase and use more goods.

As an example, the people of India, on average, cannot buy much. For many people, basic necessities of Western Civilization like toilets are too expensive. In America however, the average purchasing power of a citizen is much higher. It is rare to find someone who cannot afford basic plumbing, for example. As such, we can say that America is "wealthier" than India.

Also, you have to remember that GDP isn't the best way to measure economic growth, mainly because it only measures consumption in a limited sense. GDP measures consumption of all consumer goods and some capital goods. A better method would be one that measures consumption of all consumer goods and capital goods. That way, we could also see how the economy grows when people begin to save and invest more and consumer less.

Swiss banks are awash with the stolen wealth of most countries, including this one.

To the OP: there is wealth, but how a culture spends its wealth is telling of what sort of culture it is and wants to be. In the case of Qatar, obviously not one that wants to emphasize outdoor amenities or the comfort of the imported laborers.

Yeah agreed... India must certainly be a rich country from the way the local politicians are looting the place in the millions of rupees and India still seems to maintain its high growth levels and move forward. The Swiss banks must be awash with the looted and stolen money that is taken out of India

True, a very valid point. It is unfortunate but understandable that most of the investment is in the Oil and Gas as it's fetching the revenue and most of the spending is on the nationals and not on the expats.

do u have any idea what India is. Why don't you once visit here, then you will know whether we are poor or rich, and as per this comparison with Qatar and India, you can not compare them cause it is ridicules, in any ways India is for more supreme. let that be anything. sorry no hard feelings, its just a fact and the truth.

Please don't waste your time by comparing Qatar with India.India may have more than 1000 districts.Qatar is smaller than even a district of India. Not Qatar, but even Doha has to improve a lot to become a clean city.Attitude of Qatari people also needed a change to become another Abudhabi or Sharja. Qatar cannot dream to become another Dubai in 20 years.

but it goes like this:

Qatar is sooooo rich....they have paper towels and liquid hand soaps in public toilets.

Qatar is so rich....they have Arab and non Arab public toilets with guards....

It's the usual case of the rich getting richer and the poor ... remaining where they are.

And as far as development goes i seriously doubt that Qatar will finish everything by 2022. If you only count the labor problems, restrictions (freedom...) and the "we don't care" attitude that the govt shows most of the times, this country will NEVER be ready for 2022. EVER! Money isn't everything. You need some brains and work experience also (so you can understand why are people leaving and find solutions).

Yes one cannot compare india and qatar Becos india's population is 1.25 billion may be by this time it is 1.5 billion.

But in India at least people get tap water and resting places by the side of the roads or near gardens. Here those who do not have vehicle they should walk during summer. At least provide drinking water to the pedstrain or waiting sheds to take rest. Because Qatar is rich and fast developing. There should be waiting sheds and bus stops should be designed accordingly with enough drinking water. Yes it is fast developing.

double their population in less than 5 years--see if they can keep up. It's impossible. No nation could ideally handle the demands of such a rapid population explosion that Qatar experienced in the last few years.

but i herd that major population of Qatar follow QL in Qatar so some one will see this and do something with in there power , otherwise in QL everyone ask daily about " labor ban 2 yr or 6 month".

i think this topic is better than VISA and BAN.we want see Qatar beautiful, better and want see at top always, bcoz we love Qatar and so we stay &work here.

Add pedestrian ways to the list. They are lack or in very poor condition most of the time. Even near big malls i.e Landmark.

My understanding is that the whole country is designed for only rich.

If you live in a good compound that has kids playground and you give your car to a valet you cannot feel any problem.

I hope it will be better for all in the future.

here i don't want compare India to Qatar because India is not a rich country and it is the 7 th biggest nation unlike Qatar which is small in surface area. if some one want compare Qatar than it should be with Dubai or Singapore not to India in development & richness.

Roads, Public Transportation and Public Parks are lacking in Qatar. They have to improve a lot..

Common people cannot enjoy anything in Qatar.. Thier life is miserable... Please make a survey and findout...

Rich is getting More Richer ane Poor is getting more poor.. This sitution should be changed.........

Still the richness is intangible but we all cans see it in reality after five or six years...Did not you see the Qatar National Vision Videos?

Most of these plans are still in conceptual and design stages...and slowly they will be implemented but I am sure and confident that Qatar will have a new look in five years..Inshallah.

Passed by the Karwa bus stand on my way to the gold souk last evening and what I saw there was a disaster. Just a few dirty toilets for the thousands of passengers passing by that station and just wondering if the ladies also are supposed to use the male toilets there as they dont have toilets for the females at that station.

Good point. Look how far Qatar has come since 1995 and compare that to India with 2000 years of history. They have come a long way in a short time and they are still progressing.
