Qatar Bid for 2016 Olympics

what i wanted to say is that If they hire enough brain-power for the thinking and planning they have a chance.....

Iguana: power of money doesn't mean anything if logistics and planning is poor. With all their money they aren't ready for th Asian Games - roads are in chaos, hotels non-existent etc.

When they start holding the Summer games in JANUARY then Qatar might have a shot....until then they have a snowballs chance in hell (which Qatar IS in summer) of a possibility of getting the Summer Olympics here.

By the way e-46 and the others that know me), I am still in Abu Dhabi (at least until 4th December) although I may be in Qatar tonight and tomorrow night) if I can find a half decent priced hotel. :)

Strategically, politically, socially it would be a very good thing to have the 2016 Olympics hosted by a muslim Middle Eastern country.

For Qatar it would be the coup of the 21st century.

There would be a myriad of problems to overcome though. What about security, the summer heat, accommodating hundreds of thousands of fans. Could be good though.
