Qatar Airways Privileged Club
Hello there,
Have anybody of you already have tried booking or claiming awards tickets from Qatar Airways.
Actually I have already accumulated enough airmiles to qualify for a round trip awards ticket. My planned departure date will be during the month of June 2008. However when I tried to book online for the award ticket, they informed me by email that the awards booking is already fully book.
It is still more than 2 months before the flight but no more booking available, so how can we plan our flight, please comment.
Thanks...
would need how many qmiles earned, before I could get an award ticket?
Award tickets with Emirates are fully changeable for up to one year after the initial booking date.
On exactly the same sectors, Qatar Airways redemption cost QAR 600 in "taxes" plus a credit card booking fee (and I had to go to the office to get the ticket). So the redemption flight would be a staggering 1/3 of the ticket price.
Compare with Emirates - the whole thing was done online 24 hours before I wanted to fly for QAR 80 in taxes, no credit card fee and the dates and times I wanted.
Just sayin...
As soon as I read this, I went to qatar airways website and booked an award ticket. I was able to book and confirm my award ticket for next month. It is not the actual date I wanted but it gave me 2 departure options in the same week which is only 3 days from the original date I requested. My flight is going to the same destination you wanted to go.
I guess you have to be flexible and qatar airways will accomodate you.
it is easier to get an upgrade rather than booking for a free trip.
qmiles will expire three years from the date of your flight. your membership level points go back to zero every year if you don't accumulate enough miles.
YOU DONT KNOW ME, DONT EVEN TRY !!!

Redemption of QMILES especially during peak season and busy sector should be book at least 6 mos or ahead.
Marine 75, PM me I will try to help you. Give me your membership no and specify if you are silver or burgandy card holder.
Thanks
but its always upto them

and my son on Nov. going to Oman and had no problems at all. I guess it is all depends on the destinatinations and season.
People!
Award miles are subject to use when the specified flight is available to award miles booking classes. Every airline has a yield management policy and they do not want to sell free tickets in high seasons. Well maybe in some cases airlines implements promotions to make frequent fliers to use their miles before coming to high season and this is generally winter in Europe and maybe same for QR too. However, too much parameters exist in the busines. Availability on award miles booking classes depend on the destination, date, seat sold and rivals also. That's why I, as an airline employee Istanbul strongly suggest you to book maybe 1 year earlier ( for popular destinations) or use the miles in off-peak seasons.

I tried in January to book flight with my qmiles. Booking was for July. They said seats are not available.
yes marine we have found the same problem...
hi, its because june and july till aug is high season time
I think claiming awards ticket depends on the destination and the season. My route would be Doha-Manila-Doha, maybe I have to booked 6 months in advanced, I think airmiles earned if not utilised will expire in about 3 years, not so sure....
A Few Breed of Men...
I have booked and claimed award tickets and i was able to use it...maybe it also depends on the destination but i was able to use my award ticket..
i wonder the same, can you get your award (if not possible for a ticket) possibly for a booking class? or baggage limit?... and is it true that every year if you dont use your airmiles point, it will go back to 0????

This is normal, not only for Qatar Airways. The Airlines limit the number of award tickets they issue per flight.
For popular destinations it is like this, it would be the same with KLM, Lufthansa,SAS, BA etc.
