I do recollect sitting in full combat gear inside a C-140 plane, doing a tactical entry maneuverers BEFORE jUMPING OUT! My stomach walls was in my throat. Fast stop and furious braking.

We landed and drop off, the parachute bags, everything was dark and cold. I was happy as a rabbit touching the ground again through the back ramp.

Except the warm reception of enemy tracers and mortars coming at our direction from the far distance. It truly made me a believer of God. Especially when you hear the screaming of wounded comrades asking for help.

Did not know, what worst the landing or the firing. I was glad that I survived and my friends too, 12 months later after campaigning in those rugged mountains of that country. Freaking beauty but dangerous grounds.

That is called being afraid.

......"slamming on the brakes".........

......"pilot braked the plane sharply"......

Just to enlighten those not in the know -

A rejected takeoff (RTO) is performed for all failures and warnings between 80 knots and V1 (which is a critical speed, above which you take-off and then try to sort the problem in air).

For an RTO all the pilot needs to do is bring the throttles (manually) back to idle, and the plane will jam the brakes on max braking power.

After an RTO, the aircraft won't be usable for considerable time as it will require attention of the maintenance crew (due to overheated brakes).
