Qatar Airways

By jasminejasmine

My intention is NOT to create a thread to bash Qatar Airways, there have been plenty of those in the past.
I do, however need to raise some serious issues that I experienced on a recent flight to London and want to formally report the safety and customer services negligence I experienced, not least that the rude, surly cabin crew girl didn't sit down for the landing encouraging passengers to think it was ok to keep getting up to go to the toilet and emptying their lockers. I was injured.
Rather than write a list of my complaints or encourage other people to join in, I am simply asking that anyone who has sucessfully complained to Qatar Airways or someone who works for them to reply and explain what I need to do.
I fully intend to have this flight refunded even if I have to take legal action.
thanks in advance

Good luck on getting even a response from Qatar Airways, as for filing an incident report immediately, I have requested a form 3x from a flight attendant and was assured "at once" - I've yet to see it.

I have filed 7 written complaints on poor services and other problems experienced - it takes them weeks (if ever) to respond and you get a generic - thank you for your feedback - GO AWAY

Arien, nothing directed to you.

Isobel, enough already. I am not a liar, I am not exaggerating and it did happen. thanks for your offer to put me in touch with your friend, that will not be necessary as I will continue with the formal route.

Just to clear a few matters:

She was giving the men plastic cups FULL of vodka throughout the flight.

She WAS standing up during the landing.

Yes, I did used to sing QA's praises. This was when they were good. They seem to have had a complete turnover of cabin crew and these new people that I have experienced are not pleasant.

I am not going to post any more on this thread as it has become just what I didn't want. I just wanted some advice.

To be honest, I am not bothered about the subjective opinions from others about my character traits although it is useful to hear about the experiences of others with the company, I am obviously not alone.

Thanks for the help and goodbye.

p.s I will let you know when the refund arrives.

They are generous compared to some and they are better than they were but honestly, vodka being distributed during turbulence. I know she is your mate but as if any of that happened as she put it!

And yes I would like fries with that! Curly ones if you have them ;-)

'First of all, QA NEVER gives alcohol out that easily! You practically have to beg for booze even in Business Class.'

You have to be kidding me? I have never seen so much alcohol handed out on flights like they do on QA....

oh, and the thread I was referring too, wasn't the contact lense thread...more like the thread on Indian handiwork!

These comments of yours were posted after you had praised QA...seems you have a thing about moaning about airways!

>>>>>>>>jasminejasmine said Doha london has always been ...

Doha london has always been fine for me except for the occasional passenger. I know I have mentioned it before but I am still recovering from the lady in business class who encouraged her child to poo in the potty that she had placed in the aisle! And to be fair, they did tell her that it was not allowed out of consideration to other passengers. But they were too late.

jasminejasmine said Not that it really matters ...

Not that it really matters but can I say that the potty experience in BC was the ONLY time I have ever been upgraded! The kids sang and shouted at the tops of their voices all the way. Gordon Ramsay travels first class everywhere but puts his kids in economy because he says that people pay a lot of money for a luxury flight, they don't want his kids ruining it!

You also stated in these posts you always fly BC...I take it this time you did not or your post would not have been so damning!

jasmine - if that comment of yours after mine was directed to me, it was the solution which I gave you. Remember its a public forum and you will have all kind of replies when you post something.I enever meant you dont have a point, but the claim of REFUND , I dont think so. Being the industry for past 20 years , I bet you are not gona get a refund. May be a compensation , a misc charges order, or an FOC ticket with a 1000 restrictions. Good luck

First of all I am accused of never having taken a flight and then Xena (who presumes she knows me from a post about contact lenses) and then the rest of the posse have a go lol

Secondly; yeah I will have a go at customer service; if the service is bad. I never said QA is great. All I have done is cast doubt on this scenario and if it is as bad as painted!

I cannot believe for one minute this happened at all in the way it has been described.

Jasmine described it thus; turbulence, air stewardesses dancing around and flirting (with Muslims on board), handing Vodka out as though it is going off fashion etc., etc. Bags falling out, total mayhem apparently.

First of all, QA NEVER gives alcohol out that easily! You practically have to beg for booze even in Business Class.

She said, ‘all the people were up’. So ALL the customers were stood up during turbulence? I think if that was the case, I think we would have heard an awful lot more of this. Do you think that Jasmine was the ONLY person on that flight that is on QL or if it was as bad as described (sounds like a riot to me) it would not have been reported in the press? I am also sure if it was as bad as she says the Captain may have been alerted to the fact and he would have done something about it!

A bag may have fallen out if somebody was stupid enough to stand up during turbulence and try and get their bag; but for the life of me I have never, ever been on a flight with any airline where during turbulence the staff and the customers did not sit down.

If she was hurt, she will not have been the first and she won’t be the last. Sounds to me, she had a bad flight (as you can) and she decided to vent, exaggerate and it got out of hand.

Anyway, Jasmine, please PM and tell me the flight number etc and I will ask a very good friend of mine who is a Captain with QA to investigate for you. At least that way you have somebody on the inside helping you and your claim for whatever you expect to happen.

Sorry, no airline is great and QA are not perfect but this did not happen in the way it was described.

Jasmine if you did film, upload that film and let us see and if it as bad as you described I will be the first to apologise. Let's face it; you have nothing to lose by doing this. Legal action against QA? It is not going to happen love at all.

the services are the same...no one comes up to the mark as said about the airelines....once i could not do the online checkin and i reached QA as the last passenger to board the flight...to my surprise there was no place to keep my hand carry bags and inspite of having requested for 3 seats together as my child is very small I got 3 seats in different places and the airhostess hardly could help me and i was standing for a long time to get atleast 2 seats together for my family and i had to sit aways from them.....for me it was ok but still. When we book the tickets they know there are families with children and no one expect small children to sit away from either the mother or father

I am sorry JJ to say that there are so many times i have tried to represent things but when i see people like isobel writing comments it demotivates to even make a statement feeling it no use.

best of luck i hope u get back what you want from QA...

JJ....I still have problem getting refund for the flight I cancelled in mid November. I was promissed money back within 14-28 days but still no sight of it. Even got the email confirmation. So, I can understand your frustration when complaint lands on deaf ears. They really need to shake up their customer services if they want to play important role on international level...

Knowing JJ personally, I can guarentee you that she is the last person to lie.

How rude of you to make statements so blatently when you were not even on the flight.

I do hope next time you fly you don't experience anything quite so bad, and if you do, please don't post it on QL. Oh thats right, you are the biggest complainer of the lack of customer service if I go by your posts on a recent thread.

Go get'em JJ:-)

Flying Ace, just because you haven't seen Air Hostesses dance on flights, that doesn't mean that it does not happen!

This is a free and open forum and if you do not like an opinion you can choose to ignore it or debate it. But when you place an opinion or a comment here which is politically incorrect, be ready to expect a counter response. You asking someone to 'Shut Up' just because they do not agree with you, reeks of immaturity and stupidity.

Crappier things are known to happen in the Airlines you work for, just because you state that they do not happen doesn't serve as proof that these things actually do not happen, it just displays how disconnected you are to the network that is well aware of the crap that goes on behind the facade.

Though secondly i don't even want to travel in Ryan air, and never ever in Cebu Pacific...

So better of too Shut Up... :)

This is ridiculous! There is a person who suffered an injury (regardless how minor) due to hostesses not doing their jobs and others trying to defend them?! Are you saying that they are all professionals and do as said?!?! Some of them are hopeless!!

If I were you JJ, I'd call QA office and take it from there... but you need to get a medical report done...

And Isobel, it just sounds like you've never been on a plane before! you came here by boat?!

Happy new year all :)

Good for you, JJ. The cabin crew should have NEVER disregarded a directive from the cockpit. This isn't a time for individual assessment of the situation. And it certainly sounds like their behavior did influence the passengers. And Isobel, why so negative? The cockpit can actually see turbulence up ahead and request that all be seated just to avoid such incidences.

come on Jasmine, How can Cabin Crew Dance, when the Captain has said to take the seats, and seat belt signs are on...

They must be serving the drinks, that can happen.

I can say from my experience working in aviation industry, i never have seen Air Hostess dancing on a flight, though i agree they might have been flirting....

By jasminejasmine• 31 Dec 2010 23:58
jasminejasmine

to Isobel, yes the announcement from the Captain was please take to your seat and put on your belt we are experiencing turbulence. The second announcement one second later was from the cabin crew saying "cabin crew please take your seats immediately" which they ignored and carried on flirting with men en route home to UK from Saudi and giving them glasses full of vodka and dancing around with them. As the crew were still up and about the passengers were still using the bathroom and going into their lockers, it was as if the announcement had never had been made. These were not Qatari people, all English. And yes, I filmed the whole thing, filed a medical and Police report.

Well on a QA flight coming back from Argentina with some extremely rude Chinese.....the male cabin crew member shouted down the plane when they got up and started removing their baggage.

Bravo to him....

I think there needs to be greater penalty for breaking the rules. Good luck and yes it is annoying when people say 'chill dude' etc. I am sorry i was not more helpful

By anonymous• 31 Dec 2010 20:17

I was injured by a passenger dropping his heavy bag out of the locker while the seatbelt sign was on due to turbulence. That would not have happened if everyone wasn't walking around the plane.

>>>>> This is such a lie.

If there was turbulence nobody but nobody would have been out of their seat let alone grabbing a bag. They would have not been able.

Everyone walking around the plane???

What all 200 odd passengers walking including YOU if it was everybody! Or where you the only one sat down in this sceanrio?

What is your motive?

By azamat• 31 Dec 2010 20:11

JJ - Please keep us posted with updates.

Did you contact airport authorities after landing, and lodge an official complaint? Did you get the injury examined and documented? If you didn't and you're only course of action is complaining direct to the airline, don't expect much. You need to have a regulator involved.

By Mandilulur• 31 Dec 2010 19:39
Mandilulur

JJ, airlines usually do take passenger injuries seriously. Did you ask the cabin crew to fill out an incident report? Have you documented your injuries? You should receive some compensation for an injury while the seat belt sign was on.

If this were to happen to me I'd sue them not only for the fare but a lot more and I would have stormed into Qatar Airways headquarters and give a piece of my mind to the head of customer service, not the puny front desk peasants.

Sorry I sounded so defensive, I just find QL irritating when I post a perfectly reasonable request and get the "calm down" replies. I expect you are right about complaining but I will get this flight refunded.

You need to remember that if;

(a) the flight exploded mid air, who was on the phone or if luggage not stored would not have one jot of difference to the outcome

(b) ditto with take off

(c) if there was a problem with landing, most would have been shaken out anyway. A few bags or somebody on the phone or a trolley dolly not sat down would never have any real impact on the outcome.

If something happens to a plane it is usually very bad; bar the Hudson River thing lol

Something has got to be done about this. Airlines seem to take passenger safety pretty lightly these days. On an Air Arabia Flight I was asked to stow my duty free shopping, next to my feet as all the storage space was utilized. And I had no other cabin baggage besides being entitled to 1 piece. I have noticed people who are allowed with massive pieces of cabin baggage and yet the do not have place for 1 piece of a lousy duty free bag!

This has also happened to me on Indian Airlines.

Sure, the behaviour of some QA passengers is unreal, no question. I remember, for example, a QA flight where a guy was told to turn off his mobile. He refused and had it on and was talking during take off and the actual flight.

I think many other airlines would have had him taken off the flight.

Have to say though, never had any problems myself with QA.

Although what happens in the cabin concerning some passengers endangering others with their behaviour scares me a bit.

Ah well, nothing I can do about it, apparently.

i've read this post a few times now but having trouble understanding exactly what happened... was this before or after landing that the cabin crew were standing? or was it the passengers who were standing, or both? i've flown a few times and noticed that passengers always stand up straight after landing to get their bags (they seem to be in a hurry) even though the crew announce for them to stay seated!
