PURPOSE IN LIFE
By swissgirl39 •
I am thinking about it since a long time, but still got no answer. What is the purpose/aim of our existence? Is it to make as much money as possible? To have a splendid carreer in our job?To have a picturebook family? To be famous and having a big social life with many friends around?
And is our destiny in our hands or is it written in Gods book of our life?Is it what we make of it or is it what God decided for us?
What is the general meaning of our existence?
Would be happy about some helping/clearing posts here
:-)
GOD BLESS YOU ALL
and I for one enjoy reading it too.

Everyone creates his/her own purpose of life. Some people's purpose is money, others happiness and keep counting. For me, my main purpose is proving that I deserve being on this planet
Me, Myself, & I
Because believe it or not man, i'm not taking it personally....I have a lot of respect for you and your opinions...and I actually enjoy debating with you, even if we are on opposite ends of the spectrum so to speak.
I hope you are not put off by my snarkyness (is that a word?)...my intent is not insult.....its just my style bro
I suspect if you start threads about movies, i'll disagree with your opinions just because ...but seriously, I hope we can continue these lively debates in the future.
Stay safe buddy.
Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?
Ragna i dont hold any grudge against u so i aint hurt by anything u say
But i guess it wud be better for both me and u if we dont lend out a helping hand to satanic and voodoo cults
By the way u know i have had it up till here with all the negative feedback i get 4 my posts - so i have decided that the next time around my post is gonna be about the movies or the best ballad ever - LOL!

And I appreciate your respect of my views bro......but I never claimed to be an authority on religion....I was simply questioning why you would seek to FORCE me respect figures I don't believe in, when I was not certain YOU respect figures you don't believe in (like Lord Shiva from Hinduism....regarless of how it is or is not related to Abrahamic traditions).
So just to see if I got it right....you DO respect religious figures sanctioned by YOUR religion.....but not others that are non sanctioned becuase they are not "Major" enough for you? is that how it works?
The only thing astounding is the arrogance of those who believe....not because of the passion of their beliefs (that I actually respect), but the hypocracy of not extending to others the same courtesy that they DEMAND (in General).
Stay safe.

Like is a blessing, enjoy it.
Just don't make your life worst than useless.....
Some historians are of the view that the Aryans who came to India were descendants of Noah who is also seen as a prophet by all Abrahamic traditions
They have a term in Hinduism which is pronounced like Manu (the hindu noah)
As per Hindu legend, around 15000 years ago there was a massive flood all over the world. King Manu, his family and seven learned men or Rishis boarded the ship along with specimens from the animal and plant world. When the waters subsided the ship came to rest on the Himalayan peak. Manu's descendents called themselves Manushyas or Manavas (Sanskrit for Human Beings)
I know religion isnt ur cup of tea but it sure is informative right?
HEHE - theres no escaping religious fools huh?
but anyway i respect ur views
[img_assist|nid=53425|title=c|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
The purpose of our existence in this world is to give praised to our Lord Almighty in everything we do.......
Let me guess....by "MAJOR" you mean yours and those yours is built upon right???
Clearly not in number of followers because for instance Hinduism has a LOT more adherents than Judaism.
Regardless bro....i'll tell you what....YOU believe in and respect whatever you like....and I'LL believe in and respect what I like....how about that?
I won't tell you who I think YOU have to respect, if you are capable of showing the same courtesy.....do we have a deal?
Stay safe.

In my openion, the purpose of life is to " pay tribute to the creator by serving his creatures in obedience of his devine laws."
On my death bed, i want to look back at my life and feel like i have lived it to the best of my ability in obedience to God's universal rule, in bieng true myself and to others, and in bieng as beneficial as i can to the people i know, the people i randomly met, the people i will never meet again, to all other creatures, and to the universe at large.
In other words, to lead a life full of service to God and his universe with all what the universe entails..:)
does that make any sense?:)

What about Voodoo priests?
Followers of Set? Loki? You respect Father Sky, and trickster Coyote? Or is your repsect only for the apostles of the Abrahamic traditions?
Interesting claims considering the Abrahamic traditions either directly call for the eradication of such practinioners or ascribe an eternety of torment and suffering in firy brimstone for such "blasphemers".
And Alpha....Greek philosophy isn't even mankinds first attempt at codifying moral laws....check out even older cultures and you'll see how the ten commandments are plagiarised almost verbatum.
Stay safe all.

Gypsy, I agree and disagree...
Yes, human morality was around before the 3 big religions were formalised, I'd say that it was from whenever man was aware of conscious self (and that is an interesting study...see reseach done on self-awareness in animals and it is very interesting indeed). This however agrees with the Judeo-Christian background that morality came in following the decision about adam&eve and the forbidden fruit...ie at the beginning of humanity.
You're wrong that greek philosophy predates the big 3 religions though. Most Greek philosophy (eg Aristotle, Socrates) dates from approx 400BC...and the early Greek philosphy Parmenides of Elea for example is only early 5th century BC. Given that Judaism and the Judeo parts of Christianity and Islam that come from the Torah predate this (the youngest part of the Old testament is approx 500BC) then your greek philosophy is much after the foundation of classical religion.
However, I would agree that human morality predates the formation of formal religion although these religions understand this (and can illustrate this understanding very easily through the Christian texts).
I said World War 1 had nothing to do with religion.

World war 1 started with serbians killing the arch duke of hungary & austria
but i dont even remotely link the same with religion
[img_assist|nid=53425|title=c|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
World War II was the result of a variety of things, one of which was the attempted annialation of the Jews. Many religions were a target of Hitler's Holocaust, he personally didn't believe in religion and sought to get rid of it.
World War 1 was the result of polticial factors, but there have been many many other wars before that that were the result of varying views of religion.

Have u ever seen me degrade any figure of a major religion
Dont go below the belt with ur punches

World war 1 & 2 caused by the radical muslims christians and the jews
Oh Please!
If anything greed was the main reason of any major conflict in world history which again might i remind you is shunned by every major religion in the world
[img_assist|nid=53425|title=c|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
YOU don't respect EVERY figure from EVERY RELIGION in human history....so don't you think its a little hypocritical to DEMAND that I respect mythologycal figures I don't believe in?
Stay safe.
Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?
According to me the purpose of our life is to live untill we die....simple and uncomplicated. I mean why should we think ourselves something great? Majority of us live like it only. They come, they grow, they fight, they mate, they reproduce, they die...so on so far.
Religion is created just to organise the things a little bit. And God is created by the religion inturn to make people follow the rules of religion.
we are not the only living things on this planet.....just think of the millions of Bacterias we gulp down with every ml of saliva. Trillions of organisms those are dieing while I am hitting the keyboard!!!! So, don't 'they' have any purpose of their life?
[img_assist|nid=52086|title=Life is never boring, but some people choose to be bored.... Boredom is a choice. - Wayne W. Dyer|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
we don't have a purpose in the grand scheme of things, we have as much purpose as plants and animals and all Gods creatures here on earth. Sometimes I wonder whether the world would be a better place without humans...
Religion has been the cause of almost EVERY major conflict in human history Shuab, if anything it's brought more bloodshed then peace.

Ragna do not insult the apostles of God
I mean Moses - i know he means nothing to u but he does mean somthing to Muslims, christians and Jews
[img_assist|nid=53425|title=c|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
And also all these history books also show the kind of religion these people followed
or am i wrong bud!
As for ur atheisn ideals - i agree can range from Totalitarian government - to a dictatorship - or are atheists pure and humble human beings acquitted of any wrong doings because of their higher intellect
[img_assist|nid=53425|title=c|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
All you have to do is pick up a history or sociology book and you'll see things (records of laws carbon dated) from periods of history outlawing theft and murder long before the burning bush decided to light a fire under mosses' butt lol
As for your other question, Atheisn deals with peoples belief (or lackthereof) in the suprenatural....their economic political preferences can span the spectrum from Totalitarian to democratic....and their economic outlook likewise can go from command economies to market driven supply and demand....one has nothing to do with the other.
Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?
If anything religion has brought more peace than war
The world united under religions more than u will ever know
Yes war was used to mislead people like at the time of the crusades but in the west and in the middle east before and now people live in peace not because they are atheists but because they value life as pertained by their religious doctrines
I ask u anywhere in any religious book which tells u to go and kill a person because he doesnt believe in ur beliefs
Us muslims believe that every major religion at one time or the other was pure and its source was the one true God
But its religious doctrine got tuned to people whims and fancies at a later period in the religions lifespan
Thats the reason we are not allowed to insult any religion but only to direct them to the places where they contradict the unity of GOd - Peacefuly
War mongering idiots are found in the human race and i dont believe they belong to any religion
By the way i have a question - what is the difference between Atheism and Communism
[img_assist|nid=53425|title=c|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
As people search for meaning in life there are three questions that they ask.
"Where did I come from?"
"Why am I here?"
"Where am I going?"
Everyone who has heard more than a few Bible sermons knows the answer to the first and third questions. Nearly every Christian should say, "We came from God," and "We are going to Heaven." When we ask various people what the answer is to the question, "Why are you here?", we get many different answers.
If we can find the best possible answer to this question "Why am I here?", then we can live the best possible life.
Everything around us has a purpose. Most of us can quickly tell what the purpose is for most everything with which we come into contact. But when it comes to explaining our own purpose, for many it is a difficult, if not impossible, task.
Many people are searching for a life based upon something besides their own selfish desires. They try to choose to do what they should do rather than what they want to do. I believe that without guidance from the Scriptures people can never be sure what it is that they should do. So, let's examine a few ideas from the Bible that will help us discover our purpose for existence.
Romans 8:28 tells us that God knows what our purpose is. "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." I believe that He has made our purpose clear in the Bible. He has revealed to us the answer to the question, "Why am I here?"
In Isaiah 43:7, we can learn that God created us for His glory. We learn in John, chapter 17, that Jesus lived to glorify God. We want to be like Jesus Christ, so we also should live such that our lives glorify God. We can correctly conclude that the purpose for our existence is to glorify God. But this is not the simple answer I said we can discover for the question "Why am I here?" For one might now ask, "How do I glorify God?"
Jesus makes it clear in John 4:34 that His purpose for being on the earth was to do the will of God. If we want to find the happiness that Jesus our Savior had, then we, too, must be committed to doing the will of God. When we do His will, God is glorified. So, "How do I glorify God?" -- By doing His will.
By the way, no matter who you are, even if you are trying your best, it can be predicted that there will be times when you will fail to do God's will. Nevertheless, God is glorified when we keep trying to do His will even after our failures.
As you know, most Americans believe it is improper to surrender their own wills and allow themselves to be placed under the control of someone else. Our culture teaches us to be independent. We think we can't be independent as our forefathers meant for us to be if we give up ourselves and submit to another's will. But, God knows what is best for us. As His creation, He knows what we need. We fulfill our purpose not by living first the way we want, but rather by living the way we should. God teaches us through the Bible the way we should live. He wants us to do His will, knowing that we will only find true happiness by serving Him.
Consider the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30: "For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord's money. After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, `Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.' His lord said to him, `Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.' He also who had received two talents came and said, `Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.' His lord said to him, `Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.' Then he who had received the one talent came and said, `Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.' But his lord answered and said to him, `You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. There-fore you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'"
This story is about 3 servants. Two of them had discovered how to please their master through their service to him. One was unprofitable, not having learned how to serve or how to submit to the will of the master. Most of the problem seems to be related to the unprofitable servant's failure to know his master, as shown in verses 24 & 25. We can acceptably serve God only by getting to know Him. We can please God only by discovering through His Word what He wants us to do and what He wants us to be.
So we can conclude that to please God and have a meaningful and happy life, we must live to serve God through doing His will to fulfill the purpose for our existence
Many honest people would now ask, "Why should I be interested in glorifying, pleasing, or serving God?" Most in our society would say, "What's in it for me?" As we mature as Christians, we find the answer to the question, "What's in it for me?", to be of little importance. But God surely provides a simple answer to explain to the Christian and non-Christian alike why we would even consider serving Him.
When many of us became Christians we were acting out of fear. Frankly, we were afraid of going to Hell. This is not bad that our initial motivation was fear. People can be shaped by force through fear. Fear is probably necessary for the beginning of wisdom. But, fear of the wrath of God is not an adequate motivating force that can be sustained throughout a lifetime. Fear of failure will not properly motivate us to strive for Heaven. Eventually fear produces rebellion and alienation and frustration. Human nature resists and resents fear and force. People do not have to be controlled by fear and force. Christians, who do not mature beyond the stage of serving God out of fear, will not find the happiness which God has promised to those who serve Him.
To all of you Christian and Non Christian, i hope i will enjoy reading this and i pray that all of us will follow the purpose of God and not our own. Without God our existence is nothing.
God Bless you all
thanks,i really like the explanation with the tree and the leafs.

Well....I don't know about everyone else here but for myself.....just finding out how my body works with the environment I Live in and HOW to live adjusting with Nature and God these forces....Nature and God are enough to spend a whole lifetime, studying and interpreting this wonderful knowledge to your hierarchy makes it even more beautiful.
What makes life interesting is that there are laws of nature, Man made Laws and rules
which are broken.....because rules are meant to be broken ;) and then
paying the penalty for this because every action has an equal and opposite
reaction.....gaining knowledge all the time makes us wiser and intelligent.
Born like a sapling...we grow and mature, finally giving birth.....I feel we are
like a leaf inside a big tree. Just picturise this all of us live in one tree in different countries(branches)
but we are all the same ( people) even biologically we are unique but yet different( each leaf is different from another...different sex, religion, race). As we grow older we like to multiply, become gray and then finally leave the tree.
Well let's see, religion has been around ages and it hasn't made anything more peaceful. So perhaps war is also part of human nature, as much as it is to try and control peoples actions...for which religion is a perfect tool to try and do so.

Once a person takes away the understanding of the religious conditions one adheres to
what rule binds him to the accepted social fabric of the societys moral behavioural system
Atheists have been dumbfounded on this issue since days of yore
Because the best deeds that they so famously portray in their behaviours are all at one time or the other discussed as a main stay or a pre-requisite of following a particular religion
Isnt it shameful that the same religions that they try to debase are the foundations of there polite and humble fundamental belief systems
It was read in a publication of an atheist Church
"Start thinking and stop praying"
Well the poor sods forget that some faiths actually make the person think and i am not singling out any particular faith. Most faiths turn peoples attention to the creation all around them
and ask the person why would all this be created for no reason, why on this planet.
OKAY THE BIG BANG - Sure Quran also talks about it and we knew about the big bang 1600 years before anyone thought about it and it doesnt stop there but also shows how the topographical outlook of the earth was established

God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort
ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of
all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will
wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What
festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the
greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods
simply to appear worthy of it?

Maybe u will find what u r looking for. And if u want real peace of mind, try reading the English translation of the Holy Quran. Believe me it really works. U will get most of your answers. i will pray for you.
As Muslim I believe that god created us to worhip him in the 1st place, as Quran says, I'll talk about my purpose , I hope I can do my duties as Muslim so may Allah reward me afterlife. Not only the duties every thing we do we gonna reward on it , so basiclly it's all about we are here to make our lifeafter better -and our world for sure - because I believe in immortal and death is just only the begining to our 2nd life. Some talked about destiny and we cant do anything about our life but how did they know it's their destiny living by the way they are living now i mean we all always hearing that some says god do the best for me but I wonder why god gave us brains to think if every thing is already god chose it for us??
and... go on.. Adorman... go on.. dont stop give us your point of view.
Everybody is right Everybody is wrong, it depend where we stand.
purpose in life depend on what you believe -your religion- and how do you look to your life. anyway I read some books and heard some lectures about this the only one i can remember now is a lecture for Khalid Yasin called what is the purpose of life ? islamic view ofcourse.
there is a book called Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, very interesting book I must say. Some is a bit nonsense to my believe but lots is make sense too. so go check it out.. here is the link http://www.purposedrivenlife.com/en-US/Home/home.htm this book is for Christian but my personal opinion is good for everbody. [img_assist|nid=60386|title=.|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
there is not a "general"purpose of life.It is up on us to make the best with it and each of us makes it on a different way.Important is to be selfconfident and to trust in ourself and in God.
In this case of doing nothing and leaving everything to God... we would still be hunting with a bow and arrow and walking naked. LOL. atleast there would be no textile industry....

It would be nice if the more you suffered in this life the more you would get in the next PH, but I think it's also a bit of a copout, if we keep telling ourselves, well, it's God's will that those people are starving or dying in this life, they will be rewarded in the next, then we won't help people.

Man the idea of living just to worship God or as some kind of waiting period before death is sooooo depressing! I don't care what happens afterwards I'm not going to waste my current life on the off chance theres an afterlife.
I think the purpose of life is to live it, learn from it, experience as much as you can, then share those experiences with someone, be it your partner or your children or grandchildren. Life is meant to be lived and shared.

tresgandas: rewards....hmmmmmmmmmm so thatz y u are living the way u live.
Alright, considering ur view only... if u want a good reward after death.. u need to behave and act accordingly while u are alive on this earth. And if u do that, u are exactly doing what i am saying. """"I strongly believe in "Zero-Carry-Forward" (this is my theory) aspect of life. U are gonna get good results and bad results before u die in this world itself"""""
Now tell me where is the difference???
[img_assist|nid=60386|title=.|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
becuase since the dawn of civilization mankind has had MANY gods and many doctrines on what these gods want you to do to receive the "reward".....so what standards are we to be judged by?
Wait...don't answer.....please let me guess.....YOUR god happens to be the real one and ALL the others are wrong!
What hubris and arrogance....you gotta love "believers".
Stay safe.
Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?
skdkak -no, you are not going to return in the same way..because we are judge by God according to our Faith in Him not by works or anything else before we die. So, the interest your talking about is our reward after our death. You got my point?
RR:
dont u know these days no-one goes to heaven.
I mean its been ages heaven gates are full of creapers & the gate keeper has slept.
On a serious note: If one really has to go to heaven.... one needs to live in life like that. One cannot imagine of heaven and like like a junglee on this planet.
By only concentrating on heaven and the plesures of after death... humans have forgotten to live amicably and happily. after what all we humans do on earth.. we still have the decency to expect even even in our dreams to go to heaven... I laugh at the idea of people even think like that.
[img_assist|nid=60386|title=.|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
Sounds like the perfect recipe to keep the masses oppressed....what's that? 80% of the world's wealth is owned by less than 13% of the population?? Its ok, your reward willcome AFTER you die! How gullible one must be to fall for THAT line!!
Stay safe all.
Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?
well if someone doesnt care about death, I dont understand why he should be living at first place. man you dont have guarantee you will wakeup tomorrow alive so think again.
you may try to ignore death as much as you can but you cannot deny the fact that you will face it anyway and you have to ask yourself why do you have to die? what is the reason? what happens next?
this critical questions that can raise productive answers for the success of your life, I care about death and dont think its the end of life but i believe its the begining of the real life that our Lord promised to us.
and dont forgot, once you are dead your money, kids and family cant do anything for you, no matter how much you live in this world the reality is you are going to leave someday and that is the day you will realise purpose of life if you werent able to do so alive.
because if you think the grave is just a place to abandon the dead bodies, its not , its a place for rest for those that who passed the test and its place for for the begining of long way of punishment for those who turned away from the truth.
Allah knows best.

tresgandas: u said exactly what i mean. What ever happens after death is what i do not know
But what I know is u are going to be returned in the same way u treat urself and ur actions in life and for sure u will be returned with interest before u die.
[img_assist|nid=60386|title=.|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
ur right swissgirl, death is not the end..instead its the beginning..that's why we have to care for our deeds or actions, thoughts and words everytime in our lives. because God is watching us.
SG: u only read and copy pasted what u think is correct. Read what i mean by "Zero-Carry-Forward" aspect of life
When i say u are going to be treated in life with zero balance, means u have to be good in life / u have to be caring / u cannot disrespect anyone.
And if u do all that.. ur life will be heaven. Or else hell.
Once u adher to points making u live in heaven on earth.... ur after death is automatically made good.
death is not the end...actually, its a start of something very rewarding, peaceful and wnderful..
prayer works!
well,i do.i think dead is not the end.
:-)
he will show me the right way.
:-)
thats a good answer.you are right.
by trusting the Lord swissgirl39...you might not understand it now..but ask God for the wisdom to understand things that you cannot understand and satisfaction will come to you..(im speaking in my own experience).
The Sanskrit word dharma means many things, including "law," "teaching" and "religion." In this context, it means one's destiny or purpose.
Another aspect of dharma is paying the five debts. Hindus believe that they are born in debt to the gods and various humans, and they must repay those karmic debts during their lifetime. The debts are:
Debt to the gods for their blessings; paid by rituals and offerings.
Debt to parents and teachers; paid by supporting them, having children of one's own and passing along knowledge.
Debt to guests; repaid by treating them as if they were gods visiting one's home.
Debt to other human beings; repaid by treating them with respect.
Debt to all other living beings; repaid by offering good will, food or any other help that is appropriate.
Dharma also means righteousness, or living morally and ethically at all times
Artha: Prosperity
Artha is prosperity or success in worldly pursuits. Although the ultimate goal of Hinduism is enlightenment, the pursuit of wealth and prosperity is regarded as an appropriate pursuit for the householder (the second of four life stages). It also ensures social order, for there would be no society if everyone renunciated worldly life to meditate. But while Hindus are encouraged to make money, it must be within the bounds of dharma.
Kama: Pleasure
Kama (Sanskrit, "desire") primarily refers to romantic love and sexual pleasure, though it can refer to desire in general. Like artha, kama is seen as an appropriate pursuit of the householder. The Kama Sutra, a manual for erotic and other human pleasures (like flower-arranging), is attributed to the sage Vatsyayana.
Moksha: Enlightenment
The ultimate end of every Hindu's life is moksha, which can be understood in a variety of ways: liberation from rebirth, enlightenment, Self-realization, or union with God. This is considered to the be the highest purpose of life, although very few can achieve it in a single lifetime and there are a variety of paths to attain it.

The above is what is written and what i believe is there is no issues after we die. What we call heaven and hell is all here.
I strongly believe in "Zero-Carry-Forward" (this is my theory) aspect of life. U are gonna get good results and bad results before u die in this world itself.
What ever u do and how u treat others is going to reap u results accordingly and u will be returned with all that in your life time.
WHO CARES WHAT HAPPENS AFTER DEATH
expecting satisfaction in this world is like boxing with the sand...and expecting to win over it...would you be satisfied when you are doing your high school test ? unless you pass it. so satisfaction comes after victory and you have not achieved victory yet.
this topic is very important and needs carefull thought and research until you finally realise the purpose of you, wish you success.

This life always keeps u wanting more
No one can ever have enuf
We all gotta find satisfaction in what little we do have
In a perfect world for me
There wud be no wants
Only the bare necessities wud be needed and the rest passed on to the needy
POOF! end of world hunger
Now remind me this the next time i am passing by the souq[img_assist|nid=53425|title=c|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
Well you trust God but you dont just sit and wait for magic to happen you are free in this world to choose from bad and good and to worship God or not,
and God created ways to reach him...he spoke to you and told you to ask him what you need and he will answer it , so you can maintain a constant relationship with God.
You have to face him everyday meet him and ask him. So its upto you how you will reach your destiny and find the truth behind life, you cannot just say I live and believe in God and that is it, God wants you to worship him and to worship him you need to know how to do that.
God doesnt have a mediator between you and him, you can reach him directly given that you follow the right way to reach him . God bless you.

seems almost impossible
:-(
Yes, you have to trust the Lord with all of your heart and soul. Because He said to His words that "I know the plans I have for you, plan to prosper you and not to harm you, plan to give you hope and a future".
Godbless you!
:-)
Swissgirl39, because we people dont have satisfaction at all.
I was just bugging you....I'm not authorized by anyone to judge others.....some people really do "need" to believe in something.....at the end of the day, as long as you do not hurt others or force your beliefs onto them, then you can believe in ANYTHING you like
Have a great day, and stay safe.
Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?

It is true that God decide our destination. But how we make the way upto that destination is upto us.But no body identifies the destination in advance....so.just try to feel good in what is happening around u or what u r doin.
So it is best to follow upon simple philosophy......
Taking life as it comes to you and try to fetch out maximum pulp from every moment.
and thank you for all comments till now.very helpful and intresting to read
again may god bless you all
:-)
swissgirl, we are humans and we were created with demands, we are always demanding for more even if we are offered the whole world but this is the patient we need to pass this test.
We need to be satisfied with what we are offered and we need to thank God for what he has offered to us, its not problem to have a wealth in this world but the problem is to use in the wrong way.
If you have wealth and pay the charity and other obligations, then there is no problem.

You can search www.esnips.com for the book!
"Life is like a bicycle, if it's too easy - you're probably going down :)"
But i'll reiterate if you like bud...I don't really think there is a "purpose" the way meetings or ventures or even organizations have a purpose.
I think our time is fleeting, and how we choose to spend our days says a lot about us as people.
Stay safe my friend.
Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?
It seems u never say what you do but what others are doing
The question is pretty simple dont u think
What do u think is the purpose in life?
[img_assist|nid=53425|title=c|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
There is only this existence and MANY things we do not understand.
So some hardly notice these unexplained phonemena, and go about merely enjoyig themselves......some quest for asnwers and slowly discover things around them...and some just ascribe everything we do not understand to suparnatural powers. They create Divine beings and sacred texts and books....go about obsessing over "sacred" scrolls or books or texts, their interpretaions....create obscure and elaborate rituals, sins ans tabbos that MUST be observed/avoided at all costs and generally spend their entire life trying to appease this creator being so they don't get roasted after they die.
That's what the Romans did for instance.....what's that you say? So do the Jews/Christians/Muslims/Hindus/Taoists/etc/etc/etc... my my, what a coincidence
Which type are you?
Stay safe.

so why most of us care so much about money and carreer?
why we can not be satisfied with the present situation in which we are in right now?why most of us are hunting for more and more?
Just search it in the internet and u will find it. i did that before.
realsom u r right
purpose of this life is to prepare for the life hereafter..
...You can't mean what you say unless you can say what you mean...
@ SG - yes, you can go to purposedrivenlife.com and get your copy. enjoy your journey!
@ Doha Reader - i read it day by day in 40 days! it was exciting and yes, enlightning as everyday there was a new message and fresh revelation.
blessed be!
our purpose of life is simple to understand , if you plan trees you expect fruits from them... we were created for just one single reason and that is to worship the one and the only God that created us.
given that we are put on tests to see who of us can achieve this test of life and who will fail, passing and failing this test depends on your closeness to God.
money, family and everything else is worldy materials that are anyway going or you will go before them so the real purpose of life is to achieve the hereafter the perfect life, were you wont need money or wont have sadness or ending life....or you will end up in the punishment of God for not worshipping him which causes the human to say "God please give me another chance take be back to world so that i can do right again"
but unfortunately there is no such chance, God has already given us many chances because he sent us his messengers and his words by books so we can reflect.
hope you got it. Allah knows best

To make the best out of what we have, to use the abiities we have to support our life and if possible to help others, to use GODs' gifts to us in thebest way we can.
Tough question eventhough it doesnt seem like it.
i cant give a short answer to it.......
YOU DONT KNOW ME, DONT EVEN TRY !!!
I don't know about another religion but as a muslim the purpose of his life in this world is based on the following five pillars of Islam.
1) Believing that there is no god excepts Allah & Mohamad (PBUH) is the prophet or messenger of Allah. Believing in Quran as book from Allah. Believing in the life hereafter & following the lifestyles of Prophet Mohammad.
2) Praying 5 times prayer
3) Fasting during the month of Ramadan
4) Paying Zakat(donations) from his wealth and income he is earning.
5) Earning in this world to perform the Haj.
Thank you sister I hope the above will help you in getting your answer
Thanks swiss for such a reminder. yesterday i was fighting for an increment at job.
Well, its a big question and everyone has a personal answer. for me i say:
I exist
1. To fulfil and please the creator. He brought me here and he needs me do certain things. I know them i make sure they are done.
2. I take great exception to reproduction, i personally need to have kids.
3. I need to live peacefully and smoothly.
