Make sure you wash and rinse all soap out of your bedding and be careful in hotels or take a flat sheet to lie on with you.

If your unsure what products to buy, ask a female friend or family member to help, use SOAP FREE BODY WASH - the product by SIMPLE is good, and a good skin moisturiser, i use vasaline intensive care, all over every other day or when needed.

Otherwise plently of water, fruit, fish and veg in your diet.

Hi

Yes I have managed to contain it now after years of pain (people do not realise just how much it hurts!), horrid skin on my arms, legs, so no skirts or strappy tops. I have "shadows" from the scars but at least now I can wear normal clothes and a skirt or dress when I fancy. Controlling the condition has made a big difference to my self confidence.

I stumbled on the soap thing by accident, noticed the change after a few days and just kept with it, after years of back and for the doctors for oils, pills etc that were useless.

I use SIMPLE products now as they are soap free and re-rinse my clothes.

I still have odd spots of trouble on my arms and legs and the occasional flare up but it is nothing compared to how it was and its usually when I have used soap somewhere along the line at friends or family’s houses or am feeling stressed.

A few drops of Tea Tree Oil in your shampoo is great for when it’s on your head, that is a total nightmare…..

Hope this helps, it worked for me.

Hi

Suffered with this condition for years, I found that getting rid of all soap based products made a dramatic difference. Use Soap Free body wash etc and rinse clothes well in clear water when washing them (extra wash/rinse cycle in washing machine).

Most washing up liquids and cleaning products also make my hands react so use gloves.

Hope this helps :)

There are many factors why an individual get psoriasis or any kind of skin problems. Some says it's hygiene, some says it hereditary, some would say it's because of the diet/food you eat. Some would say it's stress-related or maybe it's all of the above, who knows?

Dermatologist can help but it would be like a trial and error type of treatment as they will give you topical ointments and creams and prescribe a lot of antibiotics and vitamins until they find out what would cure your problem.

How do I know? I went through that problem myself back in my teens and it was stressful. That's why i don't wear skirts...it embarrasses me when people notices the blemishes.

Anyway, what I had then was what they call excema, also a skin problem with same symptoms(itchiness, scaly skin, etc) and what cured it was penicillin injectables. I no longer have the symptoms as long as I watch what i eat (less chicken, eggs, etc).

I'm yet to find a dermatologist or skin specialist in Doha and from the information han19 gave (which I'm very grateful,of course), I'll get an appointmnent right away...I suggest you do too.

and sorry, as far as I'm aware there is no cure so there is little a dermatologist will help you with. Sun exposure works best for him. It is not related to hygiene and, of course it is not contagious. Also, he swears that to eat lots of carrots help him.

YOu might find that skin diseases run in families. I do suffer from bouts of pitiriasis alba every two years or so, which can be easily treated and does not cause much discomfort, but it's a pain. My grandparents both suffered from skin cancer.

I seem to remember a friend of mine suffered of psoriasis and it was "self-inflicted", just a psychosomatic reaction to whatever she didn't like … miraculously everything just disappeared when she was on holiday : )

From past experience (i do not suffer myself)it is also a way the body releases stress. You will notice that in periods of high stress; I have seen it mostly in emotional stress, that you will get a flare up.

There is no known cure as far as I know, but remedies such as solar lamps, salt water do help alot. So basically a trip to the beach is in order. :)
