Proof that Romance does not pay!
By Daily Mail Reporter
A romantic marriage proposal on a beach turned into a nightmare when a wave swept the would-be bride out to sea.
Scott Napper had taken 22-year-old Leafil Alforque to Proposal Rock near Neskowin Beach in Oregan to pop the question.
Mr Napper and Ms Alforque had been dating since they met on the Internet in 2005.
Ms Alforque had arrived in Oregon on a visa from the Philippines just three days before the fateful trip to the coast.
Mr Napper said the tide had receded around Proposal Rock on Saturday when the couple began to walk to it.
He planned to propose to his sweetheart and give her the ring he was carrying in his pocket.
But at about 10 feet from the rock, a wave suddenly came crashing towards them.
'I turned into it to keep from getting pulled under it,' Mr Napper said.
By the time he turned to find Ms Alforque - only 4-foot-11 and 93 pounds - she had been caught by the receding waters.
'She was about 30 feet away, getting swept away,' Mr Napper said.
'That's the last I saw of her,' he said breaking into tears.
Ms Alforque's family in the Philippines are hoping her body can be recovered from the sea.

Perhaps after the "internet romance", he wasn't too happy with the reality..
How convinient, the wave swept her away, i feel Mr Napper is hiding something.
That's a sad ending for a good beginning!
cheers,
paul
that hurts!
Now its understood tht guys always pick the coffee shop and ladies love de beach side :)
since it meant to be, it might happen anywhere any time..
I would never forget how one guy got instantly killed by the piece of ice which fell down from the roof of the high building.. it was a crowded busy street, there were a lot of people around, it was late spring, by that time shouldn’t be any ice left on the roofs, and anyway the roofs get cleaned.. but it did happen. A huge piece of ice fell down right on the guy’s head, not in front of him, not behind him, not even on his shoulder or so.. right in the middle of his head, instantly killing him.. later they figure out that this guy came to this town last night for 2 days of his vacation..can you imagine, to go all this way to another city to get killed this way.. here you do.. tell me it was not meant to be…
