The problem with these 'sugar-free' foods

...is that I still taste the sugar in it.

If it really is sugar-free, how come there is still discrimination amongst foods? How come one's sugar-free food with fancy covers was better bought than the basic ones? Is freedom from sugar really 'blended' in the heart of such food, or is it just an advertising commodity for people to attract the attention of buying it?

Maybe we never really were free from sugar after all...

my mom is diabetic before she followed strict diet but now we allow her whatever she wants at miniml amount. accdg to her specialist for now there is no cure for it, you jus have to maintain the allowed sugar level on your body.

we were also told that sugar-free food are not so much helpful.

My brothers kids have been insulin dependant since birth and have self-injected from the age of 5 years

makes me remember the increased rate of asthma-at-birth cases to newborn babies recently...

diabetic until I had tests in 1996 in Doha.

I suspect that many people are similarly not aware.

You still hit the nail! I keep on giving advice to my granny that it's hard to determine which is sugar-free in some of the 'modern' food. I always advice her to stay with your usual diet before.

Did you know that diabetes was suddenly a headline recently coz they can't find a way to solve this issue no matter how many doctors find a way to cure it. 20-30 years ago, there wasn't an issue on this, but it was normal...but yet nobody's wasting so much money just to cure themselves...and yet they do get cured automatically!

Plus, rare do we get an increased death rate caused by diabetes. I tell you diabetics live longer than the usual smoker...coz they're so used to maintaining their health when they know they have diabetes.

Me? I may be prone to hereditary diabetes...but I still keep on eating donuts and ice creams and chocolates...

Actually, if I STOPPED eating them, then possibly MY diabetes'll turn up...

you will find that products (certainly from the West)have to show the contents of all products by law.

Artificial sweeteners have been used for years but it's only in recent years that some of them have tasted like sugar.

Being diabetic, I have to be careful what contains and doesn't contain sugar. That is now much easier to establish than it was some years ago.

We need to be aware of which is a true 'sugar-free' food and which is not...

often have a non sugar based sweetener added and are suitable for diabetics.

Polo mints are available sugar free but beware. The sugar substitute is a laxative and that fact is only mentioned in the very small print on the lable
