Power Cut in Doha

We had a power cut for almost two hour starting at 1:45 pm! Constant calls to Kahrama were futile as the number was either busy or no one picked up! Any one else experienced this?

There was a story on BBC radio yesterday morning about possible low stocks/shortages. Here's a link:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/6684745.stm

Apparently, there has been low fuel supplies (refineries closed down) in the US coupled with high demand.

There has been sabotage to a pipeline in Nigeria somewhere I think I heard.

And oil is reaching USD 70 a barrel due to concerns about US/Iran, plus no doubt due to the other factors.

That's what's happening globally at the moment.

My husband called Kahrama, and they actually said they didn't know about any black out, and they wern't responsible. So he say's, well who is? They hung up....LOL

Seriously, I have learnt to laugh at the stupidity, otherwise the anger set's in and it's not worth it!

at first i was just waiting for my hubby to return from the office to actually take us to a mall or something and in the meantime the kids and i kept drinking juices and flavoured yogurts. thank god they were still cold.unfortunately our compound had no back up generators.

the helplines were useless but what really got to me was when somebody actually picked up and immidiately slammed the phone without even hearing my voice!!!!

We don't. We sit and swear at Kahramaa, I do anyways.

Do companies and villa/apartment complexes have back up generators?

What about losing the a/c when it's so hot? How do you cope?

in such situations, dont expect any of the hotline numbers to work, if they have any hotline numbers that is.

most of the time they have no clue as to whats happening.

anyways, when there has been a scheduled power cut, they have informed us with a notice in the building.

happy heart

This is a biggie though. Some areas without power from 1.30 pm. Some major turbine malfunction and of course, no info from kahramaa.
