currently, Ethiopians have no government that stands for them. Rather, they are being despised and insulted by a regim that doesn't even believe in the sovereignity of Ethiopia. Meles and his ruling party are out to divede and destroy Ethiopia. They do not care about Ethiopians. What happened to our sister in Libanon infront of the Ethiopian Embassy clearly shows that we as Ethiopians mean nothing to Woyane. RIP my sister!!

of the "things" that's happening when your own Government has no "B-L-S" to fight for you and protect you! So who else can we run to??? Except to offer our peaceful souls to The Great Almighty... and rest in Peace eternally. May her soul find ultimate Peace in Heaven.

There have been many cases of maid abuse in Lebanon , but this s atrocious since the poor woman ended up taking her own life.

The assault happened right outside the Ethiopian embassy in Lebanon and the guys did not even go to her assistance. The guys at the embassy must be complicit in this tragedy. I thought the Lebanese were more civilized then the others around this parts but they have turned out to be just the same or worse then the rest

They said she comitted suicide but its clear as daylight that she was beaten, abused, maybe even raped and brutalized by this guys and they say the guy was her sponsor and they have this same crazy sponsorship system out there too. Check the full and complete article on this topic

This has gotta be one of the most soul scarring videos I have seen(and sadly there have been quite a few of them in recent time) The poor poor woman. Can't imagine demons like this not only exist, but are able to get their way without any intervention. Is this what has become of humanity? Sickening!

Not every country. Where I come from we don't do this.

Racism against ppl of color is very rampant in the Middle East but in Lebanon it's a whole other level.

The woman must be "forced" to commit suicide...grrr

How come they covered the perpetrators faces and license plate??/ To protect their identities and avoid humiliation?

Not only in Lebanon these things happen...every country has their own problems like these

"..identified as Ali Mahfouz, beat her and forced her into a car. According to Bonssa, who said Dechassa was in Lebanon illegally, the incident took place two weeks prior to its release. Mahfouz said Dechasa had previously attempted suicide."

I hope that the Lebanese authorities will prosecute him for employing an illegal immigrant, Accosting and kidnapping her and not reporting an attempted suicide.

BEIRUT: The Ethiopian domestic worker whose beating outside her country’s consulate was widely publicized on video committed suicide Wednesday morning, Ethiopia’s consul general in Lebanon confirmed to The Daily Star.

Alem Dechasa, 33, hanged herself using her bed sheets between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m., Ethiopian General Consul Asaminew Debelie Bonssa said doctors told him. He spoke to The Daily Star while returning from the hospital Psychiatrique de la Croix Hospital, known as Deir al-Salib. Police took her to the hospital after the incident.

The video released by LBCI last week showed Dechasa moaning as a man, later identified as Ali Mahfouz, beat her and forced her into a car. According to Bonssa, who said Dechassa was in Lebanon illegally, the incident took place two weeks prior to its release. Mahfouz said Dechasa had previously attempted suicide.

“deeply shocked” by the news.

Thanks for the input. I am now even more surprised, since I didn't expect this sort of thing from a country like Lebanon.

Segmund: To me, the video is shocking, because of the imagery and the fact that a helpless female is being abused and no-one dares to intervene.

There is nothing shocking in this video at all. You can find things a billion times more appaling than this. Everyday people are being butchered in cold blood.
