How many of you would be comfortable in paying 38 riyals for car parking if you spend 4 hours in city center?
Last weekend we went for a movie and shopping at city center and I was shocked when I was charged (rather punished)38 riyals for parking for 4 hours. I asked for a complaint book to register my grievance before I paid up because it was not mentioned anywhere in the whole place that I would be punished for shopping at city center. I was told that people are happily paying up that amount without any complaint, so I just wanted to know whether it is true. If it is really true then I should'nt be surprised is they ask for 100 riyals for parking next time.

I watch a movie in city centre mall and shocked by the parking fee of 30Riyals , which seems to be abnormal and not logical at all . Think about going to city centre twice for a movie where you may end of paying same ticket cost as parking fee.

Yeah I second UKeng as I too paid 28 riyals when I lost my ticket. The Supervisor told me that maximum charges in their sheet per day is 28 riyals. IDK why they charge you 38. May be they revised the rates.

They have plan to increase it after they complete the Metro Project.

Thanks a lot for the response and sorry for a late feedback. This post was meant to highlight that we all feel cheated while visiting city centre. I agree that much higher parking charges are applied in certain regions of the world but the rates are adequately displayed there. The problem in cc is that while parking, nobody is aware of the parking surprises. It is not mentioned anywhere in cc that customers will be punished after 2 hours. The only sign boards display 2 qr per hour. The trick is to charge any damn amount for parking and have abaya clad ladies to collect the parking charges, so that nobody dare asks any question. I insisted on writing a complaint before paying up so that atleast I convey that I was not happy with the cheating. But I was surprised as they did not have a complaint register and I was told that I was the only one to protest while others were happily paying up. There are few things which I would like to admit/ reveal

1. This was not the first time I paid up hefty amount for cc parking, rather this was my 4th time. On previous occasions, I decided that I would never come back, but that was not possible so I decided to speak up.

2. I have been in Qatar for a long time. Probably since the period when cc was the only place to visit and parking was not an issue then.

3. At present I visit cc only if I am ready to pay @15qrs per hour.

There are 2 ways to solve a problem. One of them is to identify the problem, go to the root and solve it. The other is to create a huge problem so that the original problem appears small. It think cc administration should rethink about their problem solving strategy.

CC car park is a joke!

However, everyone should be grateful that there are not many car parks here that you have to pay to use. When I go back to the UK next week I am sure to get dragged around the shops paying loads of money to park in the shopping center car parks!

The good thing of not having a car is not to have headache like this one. It is seems to be more convenient [save money and not to worry about driving] to rent a taxi then. WTF

I'd rather pay those parking fees rather be charged QR500 or more for illegal parking outside CC. :P

I was told to pay QR100 when I lost my ticket last night while shopping with my family at CC. Went to the security guard and he told me to show my receipts for shopping and told me that I only need to pay QR28 at the exit gate. So when I arrived at the exit gate I was asked for QR100 as published, but them I explained that I had gone to see the Parking Supervisor and he told me to pay QR28, the guy at the Exit barrier phoned his Supervisor to check and accepted teh QR28 and lets us out.

Initially I thought that it is meant to discourage nearby offices to park their cars inside the city center. But it turns out to be the business for them.

If you go to Dubai, few shopping centers do have paid parking but it is during the office hours. After that it is free and even on public holidays and week ends it is free for the whole day.

I agree, It is really a punishment to visit city center for more than two hours.

If you shop or purchased more than Qr100 show the receipt to supervisor they will stamp for exemption in parking.

The mall management feels instead of one customer buy for 4 hrs; 4 customer will buy more in their each one hour. they are making business. ultimately the motto is emptying our pockets in either way!!!

May be for theater they may avail separate parking or charge less upon showing movie ticket.

for your information the parking fee has been fixed at QR2 for the first hour, QR3 for the second hour, QR3 for the third hour and QR10 each for every hour thereafter.

city mall did not count who care for Qr. 50, i guess you know very well here in Qataris have Higher purchasing capacity and for comfort they are ready to pay big amount.

I had to pay the same after 3 hour movie.. guess it is normal or rather night rates are higher because even my friend had experienced this.
