The PARADOX of a LIE (Let's TALK...)
“Your father the devil..., when he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own, for he is a liar and the father of lies” Jn. 8: 44.
=======================
The LIE (LYING) plays a tremendous role in human life. The world is swallowed up in lies. Not only do people that are by nature liars lie, but also uprightly truthful people. They lie not only consciously, but also without awareness. People live in fear, and the lie is a weapon of defense.
Share US your THOUGHTS by answering these questions:
1. Is a LIE the same as a FIB?
2. Why do people lie?
3. What question do people lie most about?
4. How do/would you know if some one/body is LYING (to you)?
5. How do/would you react to a LIE?
6. what do you do when some one/body LIES/LIED (to you)? (synonymous to Q#4? I know but you're welcome to answer ONE or BOTH)
One more thing...one of the host of a tv show THE VIEW(can't remember her name) said, "to be a GOOD Liar, one should have a PERFECT MEMORY."

not week point, but weak point, sorry... ;-)
Acutally, I also consider it as kind of a lie...and I'm a very straight-forward person, I don't like lying or telling bullshit...but what I learned since I'm here is that sometimes you have to keep something as a secret, otherwise they will use it against you as they found your week point...this is very sad, but I learned my lesson the hard way :-(
I call that lying through omission and most often the intent is to deceive someone by only giving them part of the truth.
But isn't half-truths are just the same as LYING?
I know Truths HURT but I think it's better for me to know the truth and get hurt by it RATHER than be DECIEVED to believe otherwise...
[img_assist|nid=105001|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
I think nearly everyone lies every day - whenever someone is asking you "how are you" and you say "good" out of a habit or because you wanna be polite...so I think sometimes you lie to be polite, not to hurt others etc.
What about not telling everything, i.e. someone's asking you something and you do not tell something that's not true but just don't tell the whole story?
I was hurt...but by someone else....I get hurt because I cared too much...
And in times i'm in my lowest point...I FOUND "friends" who spoke some 'SENSE' in me and I REALLY APPRECIATE THEIR PRESENCE in my life...
[img_assist|nid=105001|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
Let the one who has not lied cast the first stone
lol

I think that's how we all find true friends. Trust is the backbone of any friendship and when a friend lies to you - that trust is severly damaged or gone all together. I hope a friend has not recently hurt you.
QT - What is Sarcasm :)
hey QT how r u buddy whats the plan for tonight
[img_assist|nid=50852|title=hmm|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
I just give people the "benefit of the doubt"...and it's up to them to prove me WRONG about them....(vice versa)
It's hard I know...but I do find my "REAL FRIENDS" that/this way...
[img_assist|nid=105001|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
To be a good liar is a terrible affliction, I for one am too honest or thick to be a liar.....
"It is dangerous to be sincere unless you are also stupid." - George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950)
I lie all the time, not for personal gain, but Sarcasm is technically lying!
in whatever PEOPLE TELL ME...as it is.
and gets hurt in the process when I find out later on that they LIED...
[img_assist|nid=105001|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
To me there are different degrees of untruths.
Lying to deliberatly hurt someone or for personal gain is clearly wrong and I don't care for people who do that to me or others
But what about making a choice between hurting someone unnecessarily or making a less than truthful statement, at least from the perspective of the individual in the situation. Like I said above - if I don't like someone's new hair style I won't volunteer my opinion but if I'm asked I will respond that its nice. Technically that is a lie because that is not how I honestly feel about the hair style but to me that is the lesser evil than deliberatly hurting someone with a critical comment that serves no purpose.
Yes a lie is a lie but some are more signifcant than others and if anyone says that they NEVER lie then I would have to say that person is lying.
This is not abouot you as in (you) this is general so don't take it personally.
We all lie for one reason or another but some are professional liars and do it all the time.
"So don't go on acting all self-righteous cause u've lied to and probably more than once".
I am not at all the above, but I do know the difference in lying, please don't associate me with yourself - there is no such thing as a fib - this we tell to kids to protect them.
Dr. house is a programme on TV and seemingly you associate lying with your upcoming professional career - I associate lying with not telling the truth /to hide or conceal something.
Sure I have done it and do it still to protect situations and people but not myself - in my age (much against) your age, it has no point - what goes around comes around and be sure even the small lies are punished.
Lying is an issue, and I can't stand to be cheated - neither can others a fib - is a lie even if we minimise the procedure to protect others - I don't merit myself with that - do you???
CB, I didn't say I lie all my life nor did I say it was a good thing. All I was saying is that we ALL do it, whether u agree or not, it's a fact, everyone has lied about something (whether it was serious or just a fib). So don't go on acting all self-righteous cause u've lied to and probably more than once. And House was right: EVERYONE LIES!! It's especially true with alot of the patients, they lie to their doctors about various things to avoid embarrassment or legal action or getting into trouble, etc.
I'm not always right, but I'm never wrong -Garfield
is a relative of 'cheating' as in truth a relative of honesty.
About the death of a pet? Isn't Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy a lie? The truth to the statement on a T.V. show does in fact resemble reality. We have all lied at some stage in our lives be it to our bosses, children, Doctors, Spouses, Parents and the list goes on. I think the paradox is "How do our lies effect our life?."
We could continue here if you would tell/share what "line" or "anecdote" you heard/read that kinda stuck in your mind.

I am talking about the post itself, the basic instinct of lying is protection, the post itself reveals that that person wants to know what people thinkabout lying and lyers
1) Lyers are usually found out.
2) The problem with lying is others get involved in this as I know I am now.
3) Liars decieve intentionally and with malice they use lying as a defence mechanism and are mostly experts in it.
4) People lie for various reasons, but, mostly to gain acceptance and validity in their lives, they are people who generally hide behind a mask of complaining about others, doing the same things they do themselves but projecting it on others - i.e. especially men, sex, and above all money.
Cornellian
See this might apply to you - you may lie all your life - it is not a mistake it is a judgement you make about others believing in you. You are a liar and people believe in you - does this make you a good person - no - and f***k Dr. House this is reality and not a TV show.
1. No, A FIB is the same as a LIE, it's a LIE
2. Why do people lie? To protect their self-esteem, protect their privacy, protect others feelings...and so much more
3. What question do people lie most about? "Are you okay?" they say YES when they are not, because most of the time, no one would ask that question if the other person looked okay.
4. How do/would you know if some one/body is LYING (to you)? I just know everybody lies
5. How do/would you react to a LIE? Couldn't care less if it's just someone, but if it's someone I love, then I'd be really hurt!
6. what do you do when some one/body LIES/LIED (to you)? (synonymous to Q#4? I know but you're welcome to answer ONE or BOTH) Same answer as #5
“They say you can't live without love. Tell them oxygen is more important!.”
- G. House
to be a good liar. Very true indeed.
YOU DONT KNOW ME, DONT EVEN TRY !!!
[img_assist|nid=98090|title=New|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
Dr. House on the show "House" has a rule : EVERYONE LIES. Whether it's patients to doctors, wifes to husbands, children to parents, employees to bosses, etc. Sometimes to cover up a wrong doing, sometimes to avoid embarrassment, sometimes to make someone feel better. There are many intentions to lying and we all do it. Does it makes us bad people ? Ofcourse not, we're only human and prone to make mistakes.
I'm not always right, but I'm never wrong -Garfield
i came across many, the worst is the intentional deceiving one's, i don't care if someone is telling a lie as long as its not going to affect me, so i just pass, man life is just like a circus these days.
Check this site for eye movement http://www.blifaloo.com/info/lies_eyes.php
Are you talking about lying regarding their "sexual prowess" or what?
Alo, i think in the long run, most lyers are found out.
Agreed CB. I call those kinds of people professional liars. They lie to others and they lie to themselves by justifying their deceipt.
Yes, basically fib is the same as lie. I think people lie to cover up things, to blow things out of proportion or to exaggerate things or stories. I think most people lie about their age. For me, I know a person is lying to me thru his or her eye movements and I really get mad when a person lies to me.
I do wonder about this post - because if you are living a lie then it is time to change - you can fool people some of the time but be sure not all of the time.
1) A lie is a lie.
2) They do it to cover up mistakes - changes, things in their life they want to hide this is true for the most cases.
3) They lie about their lives and they are not to be trusted. They lie for mostly for money and then SEX.
4) If they are cheating and lying about their person, they trip up on their own mistakes - to be a good liar is to have a good memory most liars don't.
5) Make sure others know they are liars - because if they lie to you they lie to other, and others should be prepared for this too.
6) I know who has lied to me about things - do you know that too answer the question fairly.???
I think that most people would agree that lying is not good but there are different degrees of lying. For example if a friend spent a lot of money to have her hair done and she loved the results but I didn't like the new look, I would not be mean and tell her so. If she asked me I would say I liked it. But if someone did something wrong and then lied about it to cover it up - then that is wrong.
Does that make sense Azi.... kind of hard to explain.
Also I read somewhere a while back that most people believe they can tell when someone is lying but the reality is that most people can't recognize a lie unless the lie is so outrageous that it is obviously bs.
not boring azil
or my topic is just BORING...
