A two-year-old Emirati boy died on Saturday due to suffocation as his family forgot him in the car in front of his house in Kalba for four hours.

A relative of the family said that the child had accompanied his family in the car and when the family returned home at 3pm, they forgot the child inside the car. After four hours, they discovered that the child was missing.

The family members launched an intense search till they remembered that the boy had been forgotten in the car. They ran to the car and found the boy motionless. He was rushed to Kalba Hospital where the doctor said the boy had died due to suffocation and handed the body back to his family.

The parents have been exonerated from ANY blame by the Emiratee authorities concerning the death of their son from dehydration according to Radio 2 who then went on to broadcast an interview with a child psychologist who was spouting about how under 4 year old kids need constant attention and should have face to face interaction every ten minutes.............. Blank stare.

Seriously, some adults should have to pass a test and obtain a licence before being allowed to propogate the species (have kids).

But the mother is especially at fault. So obviously that means the others aren't at fault.

It's, "Parents, the mother specially" and it DOES NOT mean father or other members of family are allowed.......

So father's are allowed to leave babies to smother in cars, but mom's aren't? Is the baby not the father's as well?

mother specially because a mother forgetting her 'own' baby is beyond imagintion, almost against nature's law

Shocking and irresponsible Parents, don't deserve to be called PARENTS. No respect of human lives :(

Why is the mother especially to blame? The father and other kids were in the car as well.

how painful, tragic.

Parents, the mother specially, is to blame !

I can't understand people who produce more than what they can logistically "manage"; pathetic to see outsourcing even in such cases :(

My heart truly hurts to read such news come summer. About two years or so ago it was that Saudi child left in the bus. Then lil Sara Deen of Qatar, and now this year this poor two year old. May Allah grant them all paradise.. Aameen.

And Miss M is right, this does happen the world over as well. Remember that Iowa hospital CEO mom who left her 7 month old baby in the car? Again the poor child met with an untimely death. Tragic indeed but we can all learn to be extra cautious when it comes to our own kids.

It happens everywhere, although death is more likely to occur in warmer countries where the vehicle's internal temperature can rise in a matter of minutes.

Parents are too busy and have no time to remember about their small kids. Poor kids.

I am terrified of this happening even when my 14 year old goes to sleep in the car.

Most of us tend to forget that car is just "a machine with an AC and few sofas attached."

MM,

you are correct it happens everywhere...

but in this area you would not expect it, as there are nanny's to watch over most of the local's children.

Now look at this, if the family is not accustom to taking care of the child, then for sure if the nanny is away, i could see this happen..

we as parents, can't imagine leaving a child behind in any situation..

but if our normal day is someone else has the responsibility, i could see where a child would be forgotten..

Sadly..

The parents must be held responsible for the death of their child!

Actually it happens all over the world.

Poor little boy.

I really don't understand how a parent cannot notice that there 2 year old isn't around for over 4 hours?
