In GT Dec.5, 2008 issue, one column in Business & Finance reads the ff headlines:
1. US Giant Telecom AT & T cuts 12,000 jobs
2.Credit Suisse to axe 5,300 staff
3.Canon to shed 1,100 contract workers
4.Jefferies cutting jobs, shuts offices
5.Viacom to drop 850 posts
latest
6. Sony to cut 3,000 jobs

and seems more to come! What a sad news are these:(

....I was just driving round Doha an thinking..."Hmmm, cranes everywhere and oil at $39....that don't fly!" I remember looking at all those squatted-in concrete shells in Bangkok after the last bubble burst....

I really think this region is in a bubble of its own..

As for the US...once the next earnings report hit in the next 6 weeks and people REALLY get with the severity of this recession then maybe people will truly get that it won't be like it was before.

I've been following CitiBank (boy did we get burned on their stock!) and they are talking about using prop-up money from USGOV to buy Wachovia....WTF?@#$%^%$ Are these guys learning anything?

16 000 jobs, not only 3, 000... it will save them $1.1bn a year.

"if you don't like the heat... get out of the kitchen... but stop trying to fan the flames before you leave... it will burn you on the a** as you go through the doorway...." ME

Unfortunately the whole "bubble" was based on that "credit" thinking. Buy now, suffer later.

Truely a sad thing,

But that is what comes out of the intrest system,

We have a saying " you can only cover your self according to the length of your blankit"

So if you dont have the money dont buy, dont credit..

the rest follows...as a domino reaction
