New Salary Poll Please
Thank you Qatari for the salary poll. I am not surprised that nearly two thirds of people fall below the average GDP per capita threshold.
There is a subject that has been puzzling me since the day I arrived in Doha. When you look in the Gulf Times you see villas for not less than Qr14k per month, going all the way up to incredible numbers (Qr30-40k). For most of us on a good salary, say Qr30,000+ per month we can manage (just)at the lower end of this scale. Who on earth are renting all the villas advertised at Qr18+ per month. I have yet to find very many people on these "Super Salaries".
I am aware that some companies such as RasGas and QP are generous in providing accomodation so the expense is not bourne by the employee but feel that most people are left to fend for themselves on the accomodation front. There are only so many "CEOs" and "top executives" here who can realistically afford these sort of rents.
It would be enlightening to know whether we are living in a society that is actually far better paid than most of us imagine. To that end could we do a similar poll asking the same question with the more than/less than salary being Qr36k package per month?
