NEW LAW: Just been told housemaids can not stay more than 5 years

I have just been told by a friend and would like to know if anyone else has heard anything at all about this that Filipino (not sure if it applies to other nationalities) can not work for more than 5 years in Qatar.
He was advised this when it came to renew his maid's visa renewal.
It sounds absurd as I know there is a shortage of housemaids in Doha at the moment. I am hoping he has it all wrong.
Anyone else heard anything along these lines?
Apparently they can work in other GCC countries no problems at all, but not back in Qatar once they have done 5 years.
It just doesn't ring right, but you never know here.
