this question was posted by another member about 3 days ago. unfortunately only djkiller replied. i guess others are busy with thatstruth a.k.a bigtymer, etc.

anyways, i am faced with the same problem. i've been using a company car for the past 3 years. the company takes care of everything pertinent to registration. just a week ago, our mandoub went for a holiday and will probably stay in india for the next couple of months. my registration is expiring soon and my boss said that i should take care of it. what i am gonna do? pls advise.

do i need a certain letter from my sponsor since it is a company car?

thanks for your advise in advance.

I guess i'l just have to collate all your suggestions and choose which one would be easier for me to do or to go.

inspection - i might go to Lulu instead of industrial area. never mind the waiting, i just live around the corner.

insurance - qatar general is only a stone-throw away from my office.

traffic police - il go to mathar qadeem.

another quick question pls... what if my car is slightly scratched? will there be any problem?

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL who replied to this post and also to those who sent PM. and also to those who will still reply. now i know what to do. :-)

I just went through this yesterday.

I think it is better to go to the Technical Inspection in the industrial area:

Use Google Earth and find the following cooridinates:

25deg 11' 28.40N

51deg 25' 55.22E

It is on 27th Street. Go to Gate #1. They are open Saturday - Thursday from 6:00am till 5:30pm.

Take a number when you get there. Go inside and pay 75 QR. Then go back outside and get your car into line for inspection. I found they do not call numbers. Just get in line the best you can. Drive up when they tell you to, then get out and go inside and wait by the "Report" window. Watch for your number to come up. Get your report, then drive through the lane where the policemen is and get his signature.

Then, if you have previously renewed the insurance, go inside building #2 and do the registration. Otherwise you will have to go get insurance renewed and then go for registration.

The one near Lulu Hypermarket is not so well organized with really long waiting times.

Hope this helps.

QTIC, they have a sattelite inspection unit beside Lulu Hypermarket, from what I know they are open only on Sat., Sun. & Mon.

while the main is on Industrial Area Street No. 24 which is open from Sat. to Thurs. hope this helps

@glecs as you've mentioned you have been using this company car for 3 years, so i assume that it is 2005 model. before you go to the insurance, you need to have the car inspected at Qatar Technical Inspection (QTIC). after the car passed the inspection, then bring the inspection report to the insurance company. after you have renewed the insurance , the insurance company will give you two set of copy of your insurance policy (1 for you & 1 for the traffic department). just bring this together with your registration to the traffic department and they will renew your registration.

p.s. after you have the new registration, don't forget to ask for the sticker :)

okay, u need to go to the insurance company first make sure your insurance is not over due then with the receipt and your car registration, you go to police station to renew. actually you can go to city center under carrefour traffic police have one stand. you can go there to avoid such long Q. but sometime the officer is away so you need to hangin there.
