My Last Day at Office ! What A Mixed Bag of Feelings?
Morning folks, and all my friends at QL...
Just wanted to share a deep feeling on this DAY ! ! !
Today is My Last Day at Office...Finally the day has come when I bid Good-bye to my current Office and move on and walk on to a different phase of life, what's there in store I don't know, where does it take me I don't know, but fingers crossed hope it takes me towards a BETTER TOMORROW ! ! !
It's been 2 years after Dec 12th 2005 the day first when I began at this place, like any other Fresh Graduate just returned from Australia, joined my family back here in Qatar, and wanted to excel in this stint of my life...thought, I join at this place and maybe I could be given a permanent posting to continue here after this contract...
O well, didn't happen, 2 YEARS, were I must say it is like a Mixed-Bag Feeling:
IT was fun,
It was a good learning experience,
It was a good working experience to be working for Video Networks for the Asian Games, and it was a nice and challenging environment to work at, with each and every person who is double your age and who has the experience more than that of your age...so being the smallest around, it was different, the way I wanted to work, nobody let me work, the way they worked, was too mechanical (boring), but still, I'm new so I had to adapt, and did that well...
People cursing me, hitting me with hard words, back-stabbing, ooo something that I heard off when at University, but didn't expect it to happen like this...but then you LEARN and YOU MATURE This way...
Then came Year 2007, absolutely work dropped down to the Zero Level after the Games finished and there was not much of Eventful action to work on, so the times started when I had to deliver in meaning rather than deliver in Action...which was and which is the most toughest part...You can sure deliver when you have something to work on, but what do you do when you don't have anything practical to work...ON...
Time passed by, I started applying for various opportunities, but nothing somehow seem to be coming my way...O well...going on...I was put on a different project internally but then again politics and bureaucracy didn't let me move up the ladder, no problem, my boss started to hit me (in words) on and on and on, and it seriously affected my Communication...unfortunate enough, I went into a Nut-Shell...
At this time, all you need is FRIENDS so you can actually divert your attention...and your anger from office towards laughter and drink down your grief with your friends...but noone here...couldn't make friends at office, and trust me bars are not places where you can find them, at this time you don't want the only girl you ever wanted to leave you and go off...so another HIT...I LOST HER...ooo was it getting tough or not, till when I joined "QL", and o hell of a ride, and till date, the only positive thing that has happened to me in the Year 2007,
I mean, a person who wants to be stay positive, is not given a chance, you have to fight your way to positivity, a person who is thriving for that ONE OPPORTUNITY isnt given one because you don't know anyone in a big company, hmmmm, now that's sad...why does it have to be so tough and practically impossible to find yourself or a young person with 2 yrs and a Post Graduate degree a good job...in a large company...just because you dont know anyone...
Anyways, the future I hope is going to be rather exciting for me, but till the next time, this is me 'Ksarat16' telling, people, thanks for the company you have given me all the while in this down-period of my career and it was lovely and wonderful meeting all those I have met and knowing all of you Online and Offline...THANKS...
I'm here for another 45 days in Qatar, before I wrap up and move on to a different place if I don't end up with a job here...and lets see how that goes...
Indeed, the Last Day at Office can be very very tough ('cos you dont know whats next), and it can also be very happy ('cos you finally are getting away from all the S5IT you have taken in life from this place)...a MIXED BAG INDEED...

I ve had the same experience too....really disgusting Me too ve come to the point of complete saturation and exhaustion...ANyways gud luck mate and hope we meet up in Australia with wonderful jobs ahead....Cmon
Lets party..... This stuff happens in the gulf always saturated no scope for progress at all..>I m stuck too with a pack of useless bangladeshis..... Throughrouh squeezed me out dry...The first time i had joined qatar i had joined a lousy company.... Private companies are distasteful too....

Ur lucky one way ks. u got to face challenges and u have got 2 years of experience. Thank god for that.... there are many opportunities ! the only thing is dont lose ur hope and determination.. u will surely get a job in qatar ,as u know its well developing now.

My hubby is facing the same thing with deadline given to him by his company.. Now we are in a full swing searching for the opportunities for him.

Reading your post made me a little sad because you are always so optimisitic. To be honest you will meet company politics wherever you go and being young means you are able to put in new ideas with a new view and even fresher.
I do hope you find something in Qatar and to tell you the truth I waited nearly nine months until I found a half decent job myself.
