Moving to Qatar and meeting new people
Hi, my name is Andy, I've recently acquired a job with the SFQ Sports Academy Sports Academy in Doha. I will arrive in Qatar on the 1st October. I'm obviously excited about this new chapter in my life but have a little trepidation as, its a new country culture etc. These are things that I want to embrace and learn about, and have signed up to this forum to obtain information from those who have made such a move in the past.
I'm also interested to find out about sports, music and various other activities I can involve myself in. Meeting new people and acquiring new friends will only add to the experience and is something I'm looking forward to doing.
Any advice or information is most welcome and I thank you in advance.
Andy
Hi there, u r welcome. Hope u 'll settle very soon after u come here.
Thank you, I will take a look into this. I'm a huge Rugby Union fan. Although my playing days are behind me (dodgy knees) I still love to go and watch the game and enjoy the social side of it. Again I will look online for further information on this. As for music I can only presume when I arrive and begin socialising I will be able to find people.
I never expected such a response when I signed up this morning. I've been on other forums and got nothing in response. Its all greatly appreciated.
Like all the other places is a good place to spend your money.
Plenty of make shift bands playing around the bars and clubs. If sports is your thing then Rugby club is a must. Not only do you get to watch some good rugby from the Arabian Gulf, but also its one the best place for Expat to hang out especially on Weekends.
Thanks guys, I'm really excited to start my new life. I've taken a look a look at the Aspire website and it looks really interesting, seems like there's plenty of activities. I also play guitar and would love to find some people to Jam with. Getting one of my guitars over there is going to be a challenge but if there's anyone out there into their music, of any kind I'd love to meet them.
Nothing to worry about. Qatar is mish mash of nationalities from all over the globe..
You shouldn't have any problems settling in .. Keep logging in to QL, ask any questions and settle in.
Sports are available at Aspire and other places
