I'm pretty sure the Dubai Air Show is this weekend. Saw some French fighter jets doing tricks along the Corniche earlier this week. Maybe practicing?
I just googled Dubai Air Show (which I think was in October) and got this report from Israel!
"Boeing confirms Qatar Airways, Emirates Air orders
By MarketWatch
Last Update: 8:41 AM ET Nov 11,
TEL AVIV (MarketWatch) - Boeing Co., in statements from the Dubai Air Show, confirmed that it received orders from Qatar Airways and Emirates Air.
The orders had been listed on the Chicago aerospace giant's Website, but the customers had been unidentified.
Qatar Airways ordered 30 model 787 Dreamliners and five 777 Freighters. The deal is valued at more than $6.1 billion at list prices.
In 2006, Qatar Airways ordered 14 model 777-300ERs, six 777-200LRs and two 777 Freighters, so it now has 57 aircraft on order.
The airline is scheduled to receive its first 777-300ER later this month, Boeing said.
Emirates Air, which Boeing's statement said is the firm's biggest customer, ordered 12 model 777-300ERs list-priced at $3.2 billion.
Boeing said the Emirates backlog equates to one plane a month for the next four to five years.
