Medical care for those without residency

Hi,

A friend is here on a 1 year multiple entry business visa.  She's pretty sick.  At the very least it's the flu or strep throat, and at the worst it could be meningitis.  Will she receive care at one of the local hospitals, like Hamad?  What kind of documentation should she bring and what should she expect to have to pay?

Thanks!

If you think your friend has a possibility of meningits then go straight to Hamad Emergency. Just be aware that they do not see a lot of meningitis here and suggest you be very aware of her symptoms if vomiting, a rash, sensitivity to light or neck stiffness occurs you jump up and down until someone takes notice. Hopefully it is just the flu or even better a strep throat because then a course of penicillin will get rid of it. The doctors here in my experience do not have very good communication skills and like giving out medications like lollies so feel free to question everything.

hamad hospital will take care of it. the other hospitals will do the needful too, but they could be more expensive than hamad.

the charges at hamad wont be too high.

if she visits the emergency of hamad, let her have her visa copy with her, passport on person is always a good idea.

i have friends on visit visa who have had to go to the emergency and they were taken care of very well.

happy heart

drive safe because someone is waiting for you at home
