Obv it has to be a descent and a respected university. I know beggars are not choosers! as if I've got thousands of universitites to choose from, but still whatever.
Any kind of help regarding my MBA prog. will be appreciated.

Looking forward for your prompt response.

Imz as of now I'm pursuing my MBA in Qatar University you can check the website www.qu.edu.qa and I don't think it is for Qatar based program actually the curriculum is based in UK standard (by the way i'm an asian) and the professors are most arab but educated in the most highly acclaimed university in the U.S. about the fee as we know education pays a lot and it pays more after you graduate. You can call Ms. Sawsan MBA secretariat 4851870,4851871 for more details. Good Luck!

Tell you what-- check with Carnegie Mellon. Right now they have undergraduate courses, but I've heard talk that they are going to start an MBA program. It's not started yet, but maybe talk to them anyway. It may be starting up in the 2009-1010 academic year, so you could begin your financial preparations to go.

So what have u decided bro? Are u still in Qatar?

By Imz• 5 May 2007 08:20

IIM graduates are offered packages upto Qr52000/- pm in US and other parts of the world so its like a dream. so forget IIM. I did my Engineering from Bhopal (M.P) so now it seems i need a foreign univ to complete my MBA, i thought as I was from Qatar I had a cutting edge. But trust me the amount of money I earn here is just enough for me to live here. House rents and cost of living is too high. How can I study now. Forget prents funding again. So I'm in like complete dilemma, dont wanna leave the job, I'm working in a respected Oil n Gas co. Without me workin how do I fund the education. and the best part is there are no univ to choose from here at Qatar, depending on Budget and Ratings. So it makes my life complete miserable. GOd Help me!!!

I've done my Engg, from India obv i'm not an IIt'n or somethin, but ya pretty descent univ. they all want u to fill in ur sem papers like story books, they dont care what u write, infact they c how much u rite. thanx for the suggestion i would rather decide not to go for a MBA, then studyin in an open univ. but than thats me. coz I've seen Indian univ, I know some are very good, but open univ are sure not even worth the money!!

I feel sorry for Qatar. They keep bullshitting this univ that univ. All are crap. and if they are they are not meant to be stufied in as the education fees is soo high. Really sick!!!

i wont recommend you taking up a study course in doha, better go someplace else to study.even uae will be fine.

when you call CNA-Q, they say they only offer diplomas, becasue they are not a university....why should you spend so much money just to earn a diploma. doesnt make sense to me.

distance learning is not the same as classroom training.....but if the choice is limited, then i feel distance learning is a good option, especially if you get to chose which university you wish to take the degree from.

do check out caroline university, they offer distance MBA, most MBAs are offered as a distance learning option nowadays.i had checked it out for myself....but i am looking for PhD....anyone have any info on that.in Doha they dont offer Masters in technology, so looking at PhD is pretty remote.

I know LBS and other top schools in Europe & USA are v competitive. How did you get into one? Gmat? Does anybody know of a place in Qatar to take a Gmat course? My score is in the 500's without preparation but this doesn't do it of course...

By WhoMe• 3 May 2007 13:48
WhoMe

That's what I am doing in 2010. I subscribed with LBS on the abroad programme and they blocked a chari for me there. Doesn't have to be LBS, but many schools offer executive abroad programmes with several blocks a year on a campus somewhere! Depends on what you want to spend!

hi imz

i agree with jonathan as far as distance learning is concerned..it aint the same as an on campus MBA..if its jus a paper certificate you r lookin at ,then go ahead and do it.. no probs.

another thing i have noticed with distance learning is the fact that lot of people tend to lose interest very soon.

The best option for you is to go ahead and do a one year MBA which is snappy...and lot of options are open for you.

The problem over here is that the value of money for such a course. You'd rather do it in an university campus outside Qatar since u will have to take the year off for this purpose.

James Cook University,Australia( Singapore Campus) recently had put ads in the GULF TIMES regarding the same. The contact number of the person is +974 5268357. I had spoken to the person and i think its a very good option. You get an australian degree in Singapore, the corporate HUB of Asia!

I'm intrested in QU MBA, but i just dont want it to be recognized in Qatar only. I mean you do a MBA and only Qatar or Qatari based companies know your worth. Its crap. I need some thin better. Altough QU Program suits the best for me. Its slightly expensive for an executive one. But an be adjusted as it requires 48 hrs for me as I have an Engineering background. It's gonna cost me QR48000/- for the whole course. cant say how soon it will be completed. Any one here who's on this course, an guide us more..

I made my research regarding that subject when I arrived to Doha 5 years ago, and sadly the only option available here is Qatar University, the ydoubled their fees though last year (from twenty thousand something, up to forty sound something), I am also not sure if it is approved in any other place in the world. My advice to you is to wait a bit, I think more retubale institutes will open soon here, beside you are still relatively a new graduate and waiting for a couple of years and gaining more experience will not be a bad thing

If you really want valuable studies not only the degree, don't go for distance learning.

Qatar University started this program last year and for reasonable amount of money.

I will not disagree to that ;-).. But again for MBA you are paying for a course, dont think they will raise it.. Asking will not hurt. call and ask

CHN is a bad university. In my opinion they blackmail students.

You start with them with reasonable tuition fees and you end up at graduation with doubled tuition if not more. Annually they increase the fees by 10 to 25%.
