Man left girlfriend in prison to save money

A miserly German man left his girlfriend in prison rather than pay her £180 fine.

Magdalena Czerwinska, 34, was sentenced to 15 days in prison for theft but was told she could pay a fine instead.

But when she called Max Schuster and asked him to pay the fine for her he refused and said he would rather save the money for himself.

A police spokesman in Wanne-Eickel said: "He said he didn't feel like coming to pay the fine and so she is still stuck in jail.

"People are very worried in the current economic climate and they have to make whatever savings they can. He saw not paying the fine as a simple saving."

It is not clear if Schuster and Czerwinska will stay together when she gets out of prison.

Actually heero it is not compassionate at all. Because she will, most likely, not learn her lesson. Or realize the serious consequences should she steal again.

heero I don't have a problem with her sentence. As I said I don't think it is harsh enough. Nor do I think anyone is trying to get across to her how wrong it is to do.

I have a problem with people who lack compassion and understanding of others!

I am not against punishments. I am against the compassion people use behind their opinions and desired punishment of those people.

Punishment can be a good thing and if misused it can become a way of oppression. We punish however we should also show immense amount of compassion and understanding of a persons situation. And forgive them for their mistakes after they have been punished.

take for instance if your own wife stole something. Something she normally would not do. Would you punish her or try to talk with her about the situation? Try to figure out what brought her to that point? Would you turn her in to the cops in order to press about her punishment? Or would you try to overlook it as much as possible.

Even when a muslim is cheating the spouse has the right to forgive them or not! And even when the lady went to the Prophet and told him of committing zina he turned his face away 3 times.

Really I have a problem here because your posts are very narrow and lack any compassion, understanding or forgiveness for other people. Everything is very straight for you and I do not think you have a good grasp on how harsh some of the punishments you support really are.

Now how come it's easy for Christians to judge the situation at hand whilst there's this 'right and wrong' thing in Islam?

Abu American

What were the circumstances surrounding her? Why did he forgive men at war who confessed Islam? Would he have made the punishment should she not have had understanding of its wrong?

No doubt that islamic punishment is the best method! The most just and the most fair!

Where as your here judging people and situations you know very little about!

The prophet had compassion and understanding of the people. He did not punish them unless it would bring about good and understanding in the community and them. And he judged the situations accordingly weighing up the good and the bad. His punishments were not too harsh nor too lenient for those situations.

Look at how he treated his jewish neighbor who put rubbish in front of his path everyday! Look how the angels asked him if they could punish the people after throwing stones at his head. And look at how easy he was concerning the poor who stole for neccessity.

And look at the prophets daughter who was raised up with knowledge and understanding about how wrong these actions are. And the muslims around them. Could you say the same for every person in the world? The Prophet understood this so why don't you!

All I can say is thank God I became a muslim and was forgiven for my past mistakes. I wonder how many mistakes you have made which would warrant severe punishment. And are you not grateful for the second chance God has given you?

If you were with someone and they felt the need to steal- that would say a great deal about the relationship, wouldn't it? Let's presume he knew she was stealing- or even stealing for him? Rank situation = Rank people. At least he was efficient in his overwhelming rankness.

If she was stealing behind his back, there's obviously something not right in the Trust department.

Whatever way you look at it, he's a survivor. She's a Plant. Sorry to disagree, But.

Everyone is assuming he didn't agree with her stealing!

Wow.. Abu American .. don't you think as her man he should ask himself (if it is not something he agreed with) what brought her to the point of theivery. And tried to explain to her how wrong it is.

The article clearly states that he kept her in jail because he didn't want to pay the money. Not because he thought what she did was wrong!

Now if he kept her in there because he thought it was wrong and would teach her a lesson then fair enough. Though why he stayed with her if he had such strong opinions as yours, abu america, is beyond me.

For an american black man you sure lack compassion for the criminal world. I guess its all that army lifestyle and german anal sticklers you've been surrounded by or something.

"It is not clear if Schuster and Czerwinska will stay together when she gets out of prison." This is one of the most beautiful conclusions I have ever read in a newspaper article. Great journalism.
