Lyrid Meteor Shower: There may still be a chance to catch it

Did you miss the peak of the Lyrid meteor shower on April 21? At its peak the Lyrid shower should produce about 20 meteors per hour.
According to the Qatar Astronomy Club, you need to drive deep into the desert, away from street lights and petro-chemical plants, in order to see it.
However, even though the meteor shower should be happening until April 26, poor visibility due to fog may prevent you from seeing it, even far away from Doha.
If you still wish to get out of the city to star gaze over the next few days, here are the best locations in Qatar for astronomy:
- The North (Al Shamal),
- close to Al Zubara fort,
- Zekreet,
- Al Wakair,
- Al Kharrara,
- Al Jumaliyah,
- Wadi Al Jamal, and
- Al Mazrouah
Also, you can watch the Lyrid meteor shower webcasts on Space.com via the online Slooh community telescope and NASA. (Sources: Yahoo.com | QatarAstronomyClub )
