Hello all

Well, I had a B.A in Architecture 10 years ago,Being a wife and a mom of 3 kids, I choose not to work till my kids can stand on their feet,

O.k, now thank God they can, I REALLY would love to get a job and step into real life before it’s too late,Problem is: i need to update my info, It is really so old (I never had a real job, just a university degree), So what do u think I should do? Where to go? How to start?

You could also look at doing a distance education refresher course, or an interior design course. I have done my whole science degree via distance education through my home country. My university is well set up for distance offering alot of online support, etc. Im sure you could find one from your own country whose distance education status is recognised within the fields governing bodies.

In my experience Qatar recognises education of other countries but recognition of education here is not always reciprocated, so if you do decide to do some study here, make sure you find out if it is recognised by your own country ,if it is something you would want to continue when you decide to go home.

Whatever you decide to do I wish you all the best, and if you do decide on distance education you can always email me for support. After 4 years I feel an expert on distance and online ed. hehehehehe.

From your replies you look kind of nervous. Just relax and try to find someone who is working in the same field. Try to ask them for the updates and the changes [They won't be general] that happens all this period. It would be difficult in the beginning and there would be alot of, why am i doing this? What is the end of this? I can't take it anymore and i have to quit.

Get all of these idea out of your head and try to update yourself with the latest methodologies used. The concept is the same but the implementation now is running on different methods and technologies. Am i right? Don't give up and keep posting here what should I do and what I should not.

You are an engineer and you got the solution in your hand. The engineer is someone who can make other peoples life easy and safe with the the way he thinks and do the things which is different from other people.

Do whatever you see right and don't keep on thinking. Just make a plan, don't do everything in one day, one month .. take your time and you will reach.

God Bless You

If you really want to work. Just go for it. Your mind is already prepared. Just your physical bit. Don't procastinate. Try it for 3 months then, review your thoughts again. We can only advice. But if you don't really try/do it, you'll never know. Its never too late to start. There will be nails along the way, but brace yourself and never give up. You have raised your kids, so that in term is some form of experience itself, though not related. You have a degree, so I am sure you are capable.....

Hope I am not too rude....

Good Luck in your future endevours...

I would really like to work as an interior designer (which is somehow related to Architecture my main maijor)..

In a country like Canada for instance there is what they call (contineuos education), which can help ppl like me, it is like different courses in different areas of life, u pay 4 it, u get a 1-2 years course and eventually get a proper diploma to start a carrer no matter how old r u..

I think this concept doesn't exist in Doha,

The best i could get here is ‘Verginia Common wealth’ community classes which r sort of usless (my own opinion).
