When a handful of Taliban emissaries flew into Qatar on an American plane in 2010, the Obama administration hoped they would help negotiate a peace deal that could stabilize Afghanistan and allow the United States a graceful exit.

Three years after that secret arrival, the Taliban officials remain idle and their political office remains unused.

“They are just living here enjoying the air-conditioning, driving luxury cars, eating and making babies,” one Afghan diplomat in Qatar said. “It’s all they can do; they have no work to do.”

“There is a limit to how long we can wait,” said another Western diplomat familiar with the peace efforts. “If at some point they don’t issue statements, it’s not open-ended. There are ways we can pressure the Taliban in Qatar.”

“They are just living here enjoying the air-conditioning, driving luxury cars, eating and making babies,” one Afghan diplomat in Qatar said. “It’s all they can do; they have no work to do.”....and to imagine that its the americans who brought them here to live a life of luxury and to shop at the fancy malls while their people back home live in poverty and misery. This guys might never want to go to afghanistan again

The guy with the shades does look cool, but if you look close enough, it looks like he hasn't had a wash for months.

Yes this seem to be a vacation! like the murderers Americans had already in Afghanistan and Iraq along with their British friends who indiscriminately killed Afghans and Iraqis, search for WMD , creating chaos and supporting tension proxy.

Murderers Americans never stopped and kept moving ,Although banged by Hizbullah in 2006 and Hamas in 2008-09 and still active in lots of dirty projects.

Animals like Americans while having bases all over the world desperately started raping girls and even they didn't left Philippine girls also, so sad.

What could be worst example in this world from an animal like Americans and their allies, that for fulfilling their victory and goals they even didn't considered lives of people living in two cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, no imagine who is murderer and animal.

interest and role in solving the issue on the table.

Seems fighting and killing had not achieved anything good, but rather more hate towards Allied Forces and USA.

We as a neigbhour want a stable and peaceful Afghanistan. We have suffered heavily since 80's due to the conflict in Afghanistan, owing to some wrong decisions at our end and external pressure.

Hoping for some progress in positive directions.

The fact is that the "West" is encouraging the Taliban to talk to both Pakistan and Afghani governments. Meetings have already taken place with a view to accomodating them once the troops leave in 2014.
