local kids
last night while walking with my husband i saw around ten fifteen qatari kids,12-14 years old, pestering a nepali karwa driver. half of them were in the car pulling at him and the rest were banging on his car from the outside! they thought it was funny and although this was happening in the middle of the road no one helped the driver. he kept on politely asking them to leave his car and also to drive on but there were so many inside and outside that he couldnt move the car. My husband rushed to his help and pulled the boys out of the car and urged the drivr to hurry but unfortunately as soon as he entered the road some car hit him from behind.
there is a big arabic government boys school in bin mahmoud and this happened right in front of it. the children were definitely students of that school and apparently they had attended some evening class or function.
i have often observed boys grouping up in tens and then picking on expats. Because they are qataris they think nothing will happen to them but they fail to realise that they may get seriously hurt.
last night some of them could have be been run over when the karwa driver tried to escape them.
imagine the poor driver being held accountable for merely defending himself. Now that the car is damaged he will probably lose a few days wages while his car is being repaired.
there was an incident in dubai once where a group of 20 young boys actually beat up an indian man in broad daylight. later others in that area complained that such incidents were comman because there was a govt school nearby and after school boys of that school enjoyed vandalising nearby shops and mugging people.
i wonder why young boys, not more than twelve or fourteen are allowed out of the school premises. what were they doing out so late? what are they taught in school?
What bullies...I wonder if schools have anti-bullying tactics in place for kids like awareness issues.. Oryx is right this happens everywhere but i wonder if such things are taught in schools here..
There are scumbags everywhere who form wolverine packs......
The aspect of I can behave however disrespectfully I choose and then have the audacity to blame the foreigner and they will get into trouble - happens a lot here. I experienced it this week..... It is bad for your self esteem - becuase basically the system is telling you are a second rate citizen...
I felt like some serf forcing to tug my forlock to the feudal baron.
really strange , well i think the real wealth of yours here on earth ,is that if you have your respect from others ...
and easy way to gain respect is to give respect to others ... parents of those childrens are responsible for such act .. the driver might be hurted , other cars might hurt anyone of those childrens ... huh , Allah Alimghty bless them all !!

Odinah....u want to know which class I belong to?????..and why is that?
But I could clearly make out your class from your comment...!!!...
Every society includes lower class, middle class and upper class....I was refering to labourers from the mentioned countries...and you are not mature enough to sense it......
"Many people quit looking for work when they find a job"
That shows the level of education they have here + how & what their parents teaching them...
"Even if LOVE is full of thorns, embrace it. For in between those thorns there is a ROSE that's worth all the PAIN."
I heard from my son most of them bring with them to school QR100 as a pocket money. imagin how can they remain stable
kids and teens are spoiled by giving them whatever they want, they do nothing, and hold no responsibility at all-I think that is the reason for misbehavior
The whole world seems to be going forwards in technology and backwards in culture. Qatar is no exception.
The other day I and my friend shared the lift in Citicenter with two guys. We were going up and the lift stopped at a level. One of the guys made a lewd gesture to a girl waiting out and invited her to enter the lift. Poor girl, she practically ran away from the lift. I felt sorry for how insecure and hopeless she would have felt within.
I am sure every one of us can narrate one such incident we have witnessed. Most of us don't want to get into trouble fighting with a local. These things happen in India too, but if I had witnessed it there I would have beat the sh.t out of that guy. I have done it a couple of times. Most of these guys actually have a very low self esteem and once they realize someone is ready to fight they run the hell out of the area. They do it only because they realize the police support them when they do it to expats. And most expats don't complain. And when in a group the behaviour is accentuated as it is a type of peer-pressure to do something different and get recognition among the peers.
The only hope is if the locals turn civilized themselves.

not sure what your problem is with living_in_qatar but in the english language it is common to refer to lower class, upper class, middle class, etc.
it is not a statement about their value as human beings but a reference to their income.
living_in_qatar is clearly saying that these punks usually play their pranks with the labourers from asia. i'm not sure why that makes him sick?

"Many people quit looking for work when they find a job"
I have seen some students on local school buses who spit at the ppl who walk by.....
Its just a fun game for them....!!! what a BAD CULTURE!!
"Many people quit looking for work when they find a job"
yes imagine what kind of human beoings they will grow up to be.
Salax85..Well Said!!!!!!!!
I am sure they are of lower class citizens....A well cultured local guy will not act this way...
If this is the behaviour at this age...the more they grow up, turn worse...!!
"Many people quit looking for work when they find a job"
Once I found some young(14-17 years) guys were waiting for taxi near the Qatar sports club, and not even a single taxi is stopping, even though they are going empty because they are not interested in inviting trouble. I pity those young guys who are genuine, trying to go home after playing some game denied the lift, because of the deeds of somebody else..
This is true, people like me run over people like them.
