Just Plain Crazy Old Greeker!

Greeker
By Greeker

You know, its one of those times...

What do people collect for a hobby? Rocks, stamps, coins, centipedes? I collect mails in my yahoo inbox.

I just sat down today and went down memory lane, through 2045 e-mail messages, seven years worth. I replied to about forty, for the second time in five to seven years.

There were people who owed me cash, there were people whom I hated through the core of my being, there were people whom I owed my life to, there were people who I knew I could never talk to again.

The thought, somehow, makes me truly melancholy. Why had I waited to rewrite to them for so long? After all, they are people who I have known through that growing up phase called life...

It’s plain amazing, but of the forty that I mailed, just three bounced. And that leaves me with only thirty seven reasons to be anxious.

Tomorrow, for me, is NOT just another day. It is for me, the delicious wait for the unknown.

Would my mail ring a bell? Would the ringing prompt them into action? Would they be joyous at hearing from me? Would they spite me for the troubles I took? Would anyone remember? Would anyone care?

A few years a go, when I still lived in a world where lies didn’t exist, I would have felt an optimist. But now, in an age where emotions are considered a weakness, I truly don’t know anymore...

UPDATE: No letters so far. But thats ok. I will wait till the end of time. Been the story of my life anyway.

Aint sure at all. Will have to think bout it. Office at odd hours is truly a pain on the A-Dollar-Dollar.

@owen

Its a free world and i believe in free speech.

As long as you remember that "your liberty to swing your arms wide anywhere on the road ends at exactly the place where my nose begins."

@ Lyf,

i never thought about what you said when i wrote them. Once you stop thinking with your heart and start doing it by your head, then what you said make perfect sense. But then, i already told you that i was a sentimentalist fool.

@ Novita

scan the letters and lock them using a website password? You truly rawk!

we could go on, but i don't know if buddy greeker here would allow us to continue..:P

collect cd albums of particular singers (and I still buy if they release albums)and I placed so much importance on them. One day my lecturer from uni asked what is the one thing we would take with us if there is a fire? I thought life is transient and nothing really is eternal and I decided I would take nothing.

I guess the same for people. I sometimes bum into some old friends I have not contacted (either on my side, theirs or both) but they don't recognise me. Probably I have changed a lot physically. Anyway I am no longer am the person I used to be or they knew. They may not be the same as I knew them too. So I decided to let memories be memories as our fate may have ended, so why push it and ruin the good memories?

oiii ... scan it ... and put it in your website. Once you know you are dying make sure you pass the password to your child/grandchild. Or probably you can write it down together in your will.
