Is it really Doha...

By one guy living ...

I had a one day visit to Doha, and I was surprised to see a yellow city with few new buidings among a lot of old ones and you can tell that even the new ones are not of great standard this is beside West bay of course which should represent a small part of the city. is all doha like that?  there is no nice areas...??? for such a reach country...

You living there, how do you like it?

in 1 day visit you said alot of things about qatar...

well 'one guy living' u were using like a very derogatory tone when u started the thread.

if all you wanted was info on places to visit, then here goes....

Jump in the corniche.....exactly opposite the (old) HSBC bank....corniche lovers will know why...

but on a more serious note...there isnt much different from what u cant see here compared to what u can see in the UAE.

u have a city centre there....u have old forts (we have only one - Zubara) there....u have high rises....u have the sand dunes., wait a mint ..they dont seem like they are as high as teh ones here tho., so u cud try that........

u have beaches there., (but u cud visit zekreet)....and pubs and bars etc etc etc....

and u are right ...one day is enuff to drive from north to south and east to west.....

and u are right ....we are one of teh 'richest' countries worldwide... a status we dint enjoy 4 - 5 years ago.....

so can we ask u to be a lil patient...come back in 5 years...and am sure the full of doha will look better than ur Sheikh Zayed Road....or any other road in the UAE...

ciao

LOL spicemom I didn't mention those because they told me those are the old buildings that they will knock down and build instead buildings with splits :)

so where is the nice areas, I'm considering moving to doha from Abu dhabi and I would like to find a nice apartment....

sorry "rich country"

you can tell that buildings are not of good standard when the ground floor is a parking  (High standard new buidlings this days have underground parking) and when you see AC split unit rather than a central AC system.

Doha is not Dubai and will never be.

I hope Doha will not loose his hidden beauty and charme

I cant understand why they want to be better then Dubai cos Dubai is nothing special.Thats how i look at it

but qatarisun in 10 years dubai will be in somewhere else :) best is not to match ne other cities but to grown on its own unique ways..

don’t forget Qatar is a newly-developing country… Doha is just at the beginning of its development… If you could notice during your 1-day visit, all Doha is underconstraction.. come here in 10 years again, and share your impression with us…

Guys the reason I opend this topic is to find out from you, I know that my stay was toooo short, and it's not logic that a reach country could be like that. so there should be nice areas.... and i was expecting that you would tell me about
