Is it legal to learn driving with the use of a private car

I am attending the driving classes in one of the driving schools in Doha. But the 50 mins training per day is not enough for me to pass the test in the first attempt.

So I am planning to practice with a private car in a residential area in the week ends where the traffic will be less.

Is this allowed in Qatar. Or Is there any formalities to be done.

As my family is also here, I want to get the license as  early as possible.

Please advice

Its risky and not worth it, if you ask me.Getting a driving licence in Doha has nothing much to do with actual driving skills. You need to know the tips and tricks to pass inside and some more of the same for the road test ! The instructors normally tell you exactly how to behave inside the car with the police man and you just follow their instruction.

You actually learn how to drive properly after you get your valid driving licence. It sounds dangerous, but its the truth !

Im taking my driving lesson too, and they told me when i enrolled it will be for an hour, but on my first day we only did it for 45 minutes, it's not enough, so when my husband is available he takes me to a quite place to teach me for the driving....

Im taking my driving test on the 19th already and i think im not yet ready and it's really freakin me out!!!!

It is not allowed and it is very risky because anything happen to the car and get damage you need a police report. The police will know that you are driving without license and the penalty cost much money and prison term.

as per my information, when i was learning to drive like 12 years back, you can drive with your learner license in your private car with licensed driver, nobody else should sit in the car and big (L) sign has to be there on car front and back

i never did that myself, maybe its change now as law has been changed too much now, you can get information from traffic dept in your area.

I would suggest going to a very quite place like a building site, or out of town and do it there.

I don't understand though why in Qatar that someone with a learners licence cannot drive with a licenced driver.

Back home in SA a learner driver is allowed to drive with a licenced driver as long as there is a large red "L" placed somewhere visible on the car so that other drivers are aware of them. Also they are only allowed on normal roads, but not on highways.

It is not allowed. And if you were caught, you will already have a penalty for your license before taking. In addition, even you have a professional driver with you, he is not license to coach. That is why school driving is mandatory. Even Qataries they should go to driving school, unlike ten years ago. But if you practice in your private yard maybe no one will see you but still be responsible and will have accountable liability if incurred accident.
