iPhone 3G GPS, does the GPS work in Qatar?

I want to buy the new iPhone 3G as I heared that it has GPS that work without need of the network connection.

Did anyone try this iPhone 3G?
Did you use it GPS?
How efficient is it?
What is the advantages and disadvantages?

It should be an interesting topic as I know many of QL members are fan of iPhone.

get the gps X from apple store for just $2.99, this works very well and i been using this in qatar...Shyams

Most of the Nokia except one model need the network connection to activate the GPS.
