ei, sorry guys! i've been very busy since my arrival here and now is the only time i've got to check back in here. Doha has been great so far, i've adjusted to the way of life and here at the intercontinental, everyone welcomes you with open arms. i've never felt homesick except on my first day. anyway, i'll try to check back in once in awhile when my schedule permits. i've got tons of training lined up this month, so i'm not sure if i can come back soon. regards to everyone. and i hope elaine and jasmine are doing fine.

After all Filipinos is the third main population in Qatar, and have to be honest they are very helpfull society.

I would not worrie at all, you will find lots of helpfull Filipino friends and people.

hi! I've been reading your wife's blog, as well as yours. I always check on what your new blogs are since I found out that you guys are Filipinos too. I even downloaded the grocery lists that you uploaded there so that I'll have an idea about the cost of living there. I appreciate your offer, and I might take you up on that when I get there. I have to admit I'm a little apprehensive about moving there, I've never been away from my mom nor have I been out of the country and this will be a first for me, so I welcome your offer. Mahirap bang mangibang-bayan? when you first left the country, did you find it hard to adjust?

I'm also a Filipino working Qatar. We can help you get a feel of Qatar when you get here if you want.

ako, sa antipolo, about 50 kms. east of manila. hehe. i hope to see you when we both get there. nothing like having friends of the same culture. it might make it easier to adjust if you're surrounded by familiar things.

By elaine• 23 Aug 2006 05:57
elaine

well, about 110 kms south of manila, ala eh, dine sa batangas laang! hehe!

hello jasmine and and angel face!

glad to know that i have kababayan that are members in this forum! like you guys, still here in our country, waiting for precious work permit, hehe! I am currently connected to a multinational oil co. but i opted to accept qp offer for carrer development.

enweys, hope to see guys in qatar!

best regards!

By angel face• 23 Aug 2006 03:41
angel face

that's not so bad, mine converted to dollar is only $822, not much different from yours, but what I'm really after is the experience i'll get from this job. because if i ever decide to come back home and work, i'll have a better chance against competition, because I have international exposure. and, you can also seek woek in other countries where you can eventually become a citizen if you're tired of the old country. hehe. that's my plan.

By jasmine• 22 Aug 2006 19:00

yeah tnx too angel face for the information, honestly i feel much better now and so much convinced to go to Qatar compared before i joined the forum. Thanks, i wish to see you there too, your offer is good ah! Mine is also same with you fee accomodation, transportation but i dont have life insurance. the salary offered is 700 dollars a month. Take care and Good luck we'll keep in touch ok.

well, i'm not really just there for the asian games, but i'd like to watch it. my initial contract is for two years, but it's an unlimited contract and i'll get a resident permit, i don't have to renew my contract every so often.i'm from antipolo, i got signed to be intercon's training coordinator. well, i'm already convinced about leaving, all my documents have already been processed. my offer is QR3000 with incentive compensation, free accommodation and meals, life and medical insurance.

well, it looks like i'll be there at least a month ahead of you, I hope we can get together when you get there, i'll tour you around.

By jasmine• 20 Aug 2006 15:26
jasmine

Same with you its only because for the asian games. by the way, how long is your contract and how much is your offer... im from manila n u? il b leaving on november upto dec 18 only unless they want to absorb... same with you i have so many doubts in going there especially my family is not supportive in my decision to experience to work there... yeah sure.. il be glad to meet you there! Take care just update me ok... i hope everything we'll be just fine for both of us there, someone told me that 70% in that country are foreigners...

Actually, I'm not there yet, the're still processing my visa, but I was told to be ready to leave for Doha in mid-September.I've been actively reading posts in this website to gain some kind of information about Doha and what kind of life is in store for me. So far, it's been very helpful in banishing my doubts. I hope when we both get there, we could get together even if we're not from the same company, it's always nice to have a Filipino friend around, specially in a foreign country that's got a totally different culture from ours. san ka ba sa Pinas? kelan ang alis mo?

By jasmine• 17 Aug 2006 18:25

hi angel face! how long have you been in qatar? i guess we have the same line...... im also going to be in the hospitality industry actually thats my course! how's it going there

By angel face• 17 Aug 2006 08:56
angel face

I'm sorry, I don't get it. What does "27th of the month" have to do with the body of your message? Is that when the Intercon gives out the salaries?

By Angelo• 17 Aug 2006 08:43
Angelo

In the company that I work for, the salary is by the 5th of the following month.

By angel face• 17 Aug 2006 08:32
angel face

that's alright. at least you tried to help me out. well, just in case you know of anyone who has the information i need, please let me know. oh, by the way, would you have information on when salaries are usually given to employees? because where i come from , it's spread out twice a month, usually on the 15th and 30th of the month, or on the 10th and 25th.

hi. well, i'm not really sure if you can help me because my questions are with regard to employee benefits. i don't suppose you're privy to the kind of benefits extended to hotel employees apart from accommodations and duty-meals. if you are, you may email me the information at [email protected]. Thanks!
