Infant girl bites snake, but has a miraculous escape

India: An infant girl had a miraculous escape after she bit a venomous snake considering it to be a toy, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

The snake was killed by villagers, in Kollam district of the south Indian state of Kerala, before it could attack the baby, sources said.

The one-and-a-half year old Gayathri was playing in front of her house Tuesday evening when the incident happened.

While her grandmother Shyamala was doing some work in the kitchen, the child took the snake in her hand found at the courtyard thinking it to be a 'crawling toy' and bit it.

Though initially Shayamala thought that the child was biting some plant stumps, she suddenly realised that it was a snake.

Neighbours, who rushed to the house hearing her cries, killed the snake after freeing it from the child's mouth.

The child was then taken to the nearby government hospital along with the body of the snake. The relatives had a sigh of relief when doctors later confirmed that poison had not merged with the child's blood

'S' Hawk!

These incidents happen(s), mostly (mainly) (B)because of the (the beliefs of Hindus)Hindu beliefs, "not to kill snake" and in return the snake kill them (this statement is bollox). In this case the little girl was really lucky. Thank(s) God

Hawk, so every other religion kills snake just like that without any reason? Yes, we don't kill snake unless they are threat to us.

Thank god that baby is safe.

Dear QL

That was my son Fred who was bitten by the baby.

He was playing in the garden and the next thing we heard that he had been bitten and was dead.

He was a kind and gentle snake who loved to play with children. Please spare a thought for him..

Yours venomously

too dangerous!!

Vipers are among the most famous of venomous snakes, probably because their population is quite widespread and because the snakes can deal a hefty bite when provoked. Like most venomous snakes, vipers would actually prefer to avoid human interactions, if possible, so if people remain calm when encountering vipers, they are much less likely to be injured.

And the snake was belonging to the viper family.

Good thing is,it's the baby who bit the snake rather than the snake bit the baby..:)
