Italy marines will not return to India

Two Italian marines charged in India with killing two fishermen while on anti-piracy duty will not return from a special home visit granted to allow them to vote in last month's general election, the Italian foreign ministry said on Monday.

"Italy has informed the Indian government that, given the formal initiation of an international dispute between the two states, the marines Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone will not return to India at the end of their home leave."

.. and which country if any in the world sent murderers and criminals on holiday to cast their votes

Even I don't beleive the Italin marines will be ever put in Indian jails. But the disrespect shown by the Italian authorities against the Supreme court was unacceptable to any Indian.....

sense has prevailed and the marines are on their way back to India. Looks like indignation worked and the Italians were not able to withstand the moral pressure around the world.

Isnt this exactly the same situation with Amanda Knox, who after leaving Italy when her murder case was going on, is now busy writing a memoir in the US ?

History repeats itself people.

BB....in how many days do you think this drama would be over. I guess 7 days...:) or may be the Con-gress would drag it (obviously with the blessings of the Italian govt) until the episode gets to each and every person in the remotest corner of India so that they are seen as people who also think in the interests of the country.....ROFL. Thats a good one "pull out a rabbit from the hat"...what would it be this time??? Already Natwar Singh was saying yesterday that India cant hold the ambassador back and some noise was made in EU...guess things are being made to work from other side too. BTW Con-gress party dramas are more interesting than CID and Ekta Kapoor's soaps except that the end is known even before it begins...:)

They will pull out a "rabbit" from the hat... just wait and see... they have done things like that before...

These politicians have become completely SHAMELESS... they no longer wear clothes...

This is just one incident...

WHICH country would have let their prisoners GO (of all things) for voting...duh? they could have cast their ballot with the ambassador (which is the correct method) and flown the ballot to Italy?

INDIAN PUBLIC are MORONS... they have been screwed many times by these politicians ... at the end of the day the Politicians have to just calm the feathers of their respective religions and ALL is Well...

By blisteringbarnacles2007• 20 Mar 2013 15:02
blisteringbarnacles2007

Anybody who think that India will stop the Ambassador is really KIDDING himself...

... these are all political DRAMA... which will give the Indian people "Pride" that the country has "taken action"... when in fact these are all well thought out plans of the Indian Politicians to get the marines out without loosing face.

The Politicians who are involved in the deal making will make a lot of money... at the end the PUBLIC will become FOOLS... as always...

...till then the media will have a good time... holding debates, talks and discussions on the issue... as always... especially as they want the public to discuss this instead of things like "Aam Aadmi Party" who are kicking up a storm and bringing in a peace full Revolution in India.

But I give full marks to the Italy in putting full support behind their two soldiers... something India can learn from.

If the ambassador of the country guarantees the court the return of the citizens after the vacation, any country may let the accused go for a short vacation. 5 top reasons for this act by the Govt of India:

1) They just killed some fishermen. it's not as if they killed a movie star or a cricketer

2) They wanted to save the public exchequer the expense of a long and pointless trial.

3) It is a gesture of goodwill as India wants to be a part of the EU. (we are connected to Europe via Turkey )

4) Being a prisoner in another country is no excuse for not voting. Long live democracy

5) they promised they would come back.

The naval guards — Massimiliano Lattore and Salvatore Girone — charged with homicide for killing two fishermen off the Kerala coast in February last year in an anti-piracy operation, were permitted by the apex court on February 22 to go to Italy for four weeks for voting in election.

Last time they were allowed to go home for Christmas holidays after which they returned back to India on expiry of their leave.
