Indecent TV Shows Distract Viewers from Prayers
It's just my two cents worth, but I would have thought if you were dedicated to Ramadan, you would not be watching these shows in the first place and if you did see something you felt was inappropriate, you can always turn tv off.
This article reminded of the maid topic, the one about how maids are blamed for influening the young children in their care.
There comes a point where a person has to take responsibility for their own actions.
That's my rant for day!

DOHA • Commercial Arabic TV channels, as opposed to their Islamic counterparts, continue to air serials and dance and song sequences with objectionable scenes during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to a survey conducted by Al Sharq, an increasing number of people find it strange that these TV stations are not showing any respect for the holy month and telecasting programmes that distract the viewers from worship.
The timings of some of the popular programmes coincide with prayers. Some of the serials show women who are not properly dressed.
Even historical documentaries like Khalid bin Waleed produced in the GCC with state funding feature women who are not veiled.
Comedy serials are hitting new popularity charts this Ramadan and music channels are equally attracting large numbers of viewers.
whether ramadan or not, most of all my popoluar programes coincide with the prayer time, but its an individual discipline that one follows, when time to pray, as has been normed for muslims, you have to pray. if the tv shows are objectionable they need to shut off the tvs, thats why it has a poweroff switch.
blaming outside factors is just trying to hide ones own shortcomings, in most cases.
ramadan is a month where you observe the month of fasting for yourself, its a connection between you and your Almighty, and if the true intent to seek the blessing of the month is there, no TV show or any other element can corrupt it.
and yes it does seem like ramadan has become an excuse to enjoy amongst most, less working hours, late nights, eat till you sleep, sleep till you are ready to break the fast and then repeat the entire cycle again.
I think if anyone is serious about scoring some credit during
the holy month of Ramadan,No TV show will stop you.
Morality cannot be forced upon people. Like much of what's wrong with the Arab world it's easier to blame others and other things than face up to our problems. Hiding behind fingers. Hah!!!

My criticism was that the article was stating tv was being blamed for not attending prayers and that it was wrong to put popular tv shows on during prayer times.
People should stand up and take responsibilities for their own actions. That was my point.
I do believe that Ramadan has become a lot like the western Christmas, most of the religion has been lost from the season.
Ramadan is a reason to stay up late, eat too much after dark, and visit with friends.
Christmas is a reason to party, spend money and visit with friends.
The reason for the season seems to have been lost.
My sentiments exactly. The same goes for thoes kids in poor neighborhoods in America where in every store there is more malt liqour than milk. They have the choice for milk or malt liquor.
I wonder why so many women want to be rail thin like the models when there is so much food around especially in Europe, America, and Australia. They have the choice or have they been marketed to that thin is beauty. They have a choice just eat or turn off Fashion TV. A question for the people who watch fashion tv do they always show nude photo sessions or is it a Ramadhan thing. :-).
It is the same as Christmas how many people go to mass or Church anymore. It is their choice but the campaigns of put Christ back into Christmas are the same as complaining about TV during Ramadhan.
If you don't agree just look at it and laugh but don't belittle.
It maybe aimed at Muslims in Qatar not the non Muslims as a reminder to them the same as put the Christ back in Christmas.
Expats if you are here look at the ridiculous things in your countries and cultures also and work to fix them when you go back. You are on the outside now so you can see some of the ridiculous things which pass as status quos in others culture or countries. Now think twice when you go back and wonder why Muslims and others who are not part of the mainstream sometimes look at the status quo or mainstream with amusement or sadness.
The funny thing is I agree with your comment but if everyone took personal responsibility how many expats would be here or would we have so much madness in the world today.
Act your age not your shoe size
Did anyone else notice that most all women in these shows do not wear a veil. They are causing lots of young ladies to think it is Ok to show your face. Wonder who would watch if all the female characters were veiled.
