think that it is ok with you and stop them at the first time ... If you be only quiet they would think that it is ok and it would be their green light to go for more .

A tip I got for anyone who's being harrassed: never get scared! Always keep in mind that u're stronger than them and u can screw them over at any minute by a phone call, talking to security, etc. cause they're cowards.

If you're feeling particularly mean you can write them and have them (phone numbers) written by the opposite gender in public toilets, etc.

Its not so much of harrasments or in any way threatening - more like an annoyance. I do get phone calls on my work mobile number sometimes at the weekends and after working hours, and smses etc.. In my line of work, I have maintain these contacts, so it gets a bit difficult when the other person want more than being a professional contact.

I am going to have a new set of business cards printed , without my mobile.

most asian places, pakistan, india, bangladesh, its the same story and soemtimes its fun, to see a bunch of people chasing an offender, usually the police arrives at the scene to protect the offender.the victim has usually left for home by then and the whole situation calms down.

alhamdullilah never been in the situation in doha, but have been in the same in India. well in India, you can slap the guy, scream for attention, then the crowd does the rest. they all release their frsutration, no need for police and even when the police comes, everyone will be mum about it.its a very common scene.

here, i would just ignore and walk away, and if still persistant, start making calls on the mobile.call my hubby, then the police.

what else can i do?

I break out my credit card machine and ask... Master Card or Visa.

Don't be in a hurry to condemn because he doesn't do what you do or think as you think or as fast. There was a time when you didn't know what you know today.

Living in Middle East for 12 years I just learn how to deal with them! just ignore them and if they insist then get your phone out then start dialing. If I have my husband nearby me I just start calling him, to let them know I have someone with me!

Just keep dancing, it will do you good!!!

For some reason I keep denting my car everytime. I don't recommend it as a way to deal with harrasment, it gets costly. :P

I stand still get my phone out and ask the turnip in arabic or english if he would like to talk to my husband. then i flip open the camera bit and say police and try and take a picture. I don't shout - just calmly but firmly. works every time

if they are in a car i say i have your number i can go to the police.

if it isn't serious i just sneer and look at them like the microbe they are.

however if i am walking locally i really dress down. baggy clothes - that cover. then i can't be accused of sending out 'the wrong messages'

however i think asain and black ladies get more grief than i do.
