I was going to be new to Qatar.

Ilovetea
By Ilovetea

I posted here earlier. My Husband was going to work for the biggest guys here.

As a Female, White, Oxford Educated Lawyer, knew it was going to be difficult.

Came on here (QL) for help. All I saw was racism and angry, horrible people.

If this is Qatar, forget it.

We, as a couple have decided to not come to Qatar because of what we saw here.

We have now decided to go to Saudi.

Internet is not what you see and what you get..Anyway I am sure you will have lovely time with racist free country like Saudi.. You will have the freedom of expression you will allowed to drink and allowed to drive also..

Enjoy Saudi..

Hey I Love Tea don't care to what they wrote to you; you are free to said what you want and to go where you like. Many people really are frustrated to stay long time at the same place and would change but can't so the result is those bad feedback to you. I never been in Saudi but several colleagues are very happy there. Best wishes.

Let's see, you are not only confused about where you live, but your profile says Interests:I am quite boring really. I love going to the gym and swimming. and your post says By Ilovetea on Tue, 21/04/2009 - 9:46pm How do you make friends in Qatar if you don't work or have kids? By the way, hate gyms, coffee mornings and I can't sew.

Maybe a few years in KSA will help sort out who you really are. ;-)

Well, there is no SaudiLiving.com, so you’ll never find out about Saudi as much as new comers -real-time- did about life in Qatar from QL, before or even after arrival.

Good Luck

Isn’t there plenty of racism where you and I live? At least we have the liberty to quit QL anytime, that’s an advantage. Also QL provides a good database, for new comers, in various areas.

In addition, I’ve been lucky enough to have met some lovely QLers and generally would never base my judgment, about a whole country, on a website.

Lastly, I’m also educated and here in Qatar on a post in one of the big 5 firms.I find life manageable here (but I'm Arab, so I'm not really estranged), and lots of people (whom I thought would never fit here) are not only able to adapt, but not want to leave. This country is safer than other places.

I am sorry, but I must at this point stand up for my British compatriot..

She has decided after careful thought to forego the pleasurable life in Qatar for one in Saudi Arabia. She is entitled to that choice and we should all support her..

To who ever it may concern,

If you think Qatar is not good.. Its a Mirror Image of your self.. No Country is good unless its people think it is.. So if your here to say Qatar is not good.. May be you deserve a place as good as your charachter-Any country.

Qatar over the last few years has transformed into a more outgoing muslim country..

Oxford educated and Impatient/Impulsive..Qatar living understands your need to move out..Cheers..

If you are an Oxfor Ed Lawyer then you should be good at critical thinking

You base life decisions on a website with posts by people you have never met???

You want to 'endear' yourself to QL and say you hate Doha...

Enjoy Saudi...

Saudi.... I had to laugh out loud at that one! Good luck babe.

Stick with those rose coloured glasses dear.... Cuz its the ONLY thing thats going to save you and your sanity from being stuck in an unrelenting, sexist and miserable sand box!

I think I'll stick with the racist, demoralizing, sexist, nutjobs on this site.... they're much more fun!

Woman i wont be hiring your sorry arse as my lawyer anytime soon. Who is to say you wont leave me hanging in court half way coz the other lawyer said some mean and hurtful things :p

Further more I think your Oxford Lawyer degree was pulled outta your bum, as you tend to forget what you say when thus making you look like a complete idiot.

So it is the final decision of this court, that you will spend the rest of your natural days in Saudi, being locked behind 4 walls, wearing a abaya when ever u want to go outside, without the possibility of parole :)Good luck

Ouch, did Saudi, if you are looking for tolerence then you are barking up the wrong tree, lol especially as an educated women.

Hope you enjoy living on a compound and never leaving it.

To be honest if you are going to chat on the internets then you really need to have some thick skin anyway, you are always going to get the assholes, the haters, the ones who think you are someone else. It's normal. Ignorance is bliss with such things.

I personally don't give a rats ass about who does or doesn't like me, worst case scenario. "oh no someone doesn't like me".

Would you cry like this in a court room? Seems like for an educated lawer you are very sensitive.

As an Oxford educated lawyer shouldn't you:

a) realise that an internet forum is not representative of a country

b) have a profile that doesn't directly contradict your first forum post?

"Hi, my name is Lucy and new to Doha. Here with my husband and I am hating it. Not got a job yet and live in a Villa that is miles away from anybody. No kids, so can't even do the school Mum, thing I hear so much about.

I hope this can help me to endear myself to Doha; at the moment I hate it."

if you consider some online forum a representation of the whole country then maybe Oxford isn't what it used to be.
