I have experienced this situation for more than 3 decades. Such feelings hit us from time to time. In a way, I have learned to adapt myself to this situation and live my realistic life on the outlook for a better tomorrow. Met many people during my "diaspora" period. Some became very close friends to the extent they are closer than my friends back home and my family as well.

So cheer up dear. You are not alone. We are all in the same dhow :D

Yes gone:) I am from bloody Serbia and on most places Serbia is still Yugoslavia:) Banks, border controls etc etc and its confusing people, so every time I am giving them solutions like Yugoslavia, Serbia & Montenegro, just to help them to find easier Serbia:) Even my passport is Yugoslavian:)

Rivers, sea, lakes....water is my weakness. Ok Qatar has sea, I like sandy beaches, I grew up on a seaside, but I miss trees, green fields, mountain rivers, lake with lots of night clubs in my home town:)

my friend called me again in the middle of the night.. she doesn't care about a difference of 7 bloody hours..she doesn't care that i might be sleeping or so... she wanted to say that she has just bought a new cottage instead of the old one, and wanted me to be there as soon as possible... she knows i love to sit by the river and watch the moon and the stars, while the rest of drunken company chatting for whole night around the fire....
