I Hate Racism

Don't know if this has been posted before here..just want to post it (again)....

TWO TRUE STORIES ABOUT RACISM

1) Oprah Winfrey Show I'm sure many of you watched the recent taping of the Oprah Winfrey Show where her guest was Tommy Hilfiger. On the show, she asked him if the statements about race he was accused of saying were true.
Statements like"..."If I'd known African-Americans, Hispanics, Jewish and Asians would buy my clothes, I WOULD NOT have made them so nice. I wish these people would *NOT* buy my clothes, as they are made for upper class white people." His answer to Oprah was a simple "YES".
Where after she immediately asked him to leave her show. My suggestion? Don't buy your next shirt or perfume from Tommy Hilfiger. Let's give him what he asked for. Let's not buy his clothes, let's put him in a financial state where he himself will not be able to afford the ridiculous prices he puts on his clothes. BOYCOTT. Let's find out if Non-whites really play such a small part in the world. Stop buying any range of their product, perfume, cosmetics, clothes, bags, etc.,

2) Scene took place on a British Airways flight between Johannesburg and London.A White woman, about 50 years old, was seated next to a black man. Obviously disturbed by this, she called the air Hostess. "Madam, what is the matter," the hostess asked. "You obviously do not see it then?" she responded. "You placed me next to a black man. I do not agree to sit next to someone from such a repugnant group. Give me an alternative seat." "Be calm please," the hostess replied. "Almost all the places on this Flight are taken.. I will go & see if another place is available." The Hostess went away and then came back a few minutes later. "Madam, Just as I thought, there are no other available seats in the economy class. I spoke to the captain and he informed me that there is a seat in the business class. All the same, we still have one place in the first class."
Before the woman could say anything, the hostess continued: "It is not usual for our company to permit someone from the economy class to sit in the first class. However, given the circumstances, the captain feels that it would be scandalous to make someone sit next to someone so disgusting."
She turned to the black guy, and said, "Therefore, Sir, if you would like to, please collect your hand luggage, a seat awaits you in first class." At that moment, the other passengers who were shocked by what they had just witnessed, stood up, and applauded.

What is your opinion about this???

What I said was true and as i said i find same complain from airfrance in Egyptian newspaper from another person

And about the 1st story i told you even i helped the man to have seat but he just want to change it because i am arabic

for your story some muslim men they belive they can touch the forginer ladies not because of the nationality or color or what ever

By anonymous• 26 Dec 2007 12:37

my dear i said i asked her to delay my meal because the sunset will be only after on hour but she said : so u r muslim so no meal for you at all, really she was so clear with me

also the french man in Airfrance office at cairo when i try to put my complain he said the muslim are not wellcomed in our company so don't use it again he was so clear

by the way after one week from that i find same complain for the Airfrance in one of the EGyptian newspaper

it is up to you to belive or not but it is the truth

I think you are right on this one - I don't think that it is in the interest of Air France to upset Arab Customers especially as there are a great many Arabs living in France. Personal issues may be there from one passenger to the other but otherwise......

He could always have asked for the meal later, they would not refuse I am sure.

By anonymous• 26 Dec 2007 12:27

I can hardly believe this it is not in their interest to upset customers especially as there are many Arabs travelling all over the world.

You will always meet people like the man who sat next to you, to be quite honest I have had Arab men move because they don't want to sit with me as I am a woman, I never take this as an insult if he doesn't feel comfortable.

for the second story it happened for me also twice at airfrance 1st when i traveld from Paris to Starsburg the french handicap man sit beside me and i really helped to have seat but i serprised that he called the hostess and complain that he don't want to seat beside arabic man and she smiled and replied what she can do no other place to shift him, really she looks that she support him but what she can do

and 2nd time at airfrance also from Paris to Cairo, I asked the hostess to delay my meal because i was fast but she said ah you are muslim so no meal for you, and when we complain air airfrance office in Cairo french guy answered me they are not wellcome with muslims at there company and he refused to get my complain

Yes, angel eyes, but you used peoples names and that is what makes it libelous. The FBI were trying to track down the source of the slander. It is a serious matter using peoples names. It is a crime.

And BTW, racial discrimination is racial discrimination. Be it from a genius or a person of low intelligence. No difference. It's a mindset.

OK, let’s say the Tommy Hilfiger story is just a gossip (from an article that I posted without validity and I admit I’m using this brand as well), and I use it as an illustration that it happens everywhere and no one can deny it. I would expect that people can grasp the thought of this article not by words but by the sense it implies.

Anyway, still I hate racial discrimination. Specially when I see an EDUCATED people doing this.

Next time you accuse someone, check it out atleast by googling the key words so as to avoid some embarassment to yourself. Granted you did this with good intentions, but when you point one finger at somone, remember three fingers point back at you, so be sure of what you say.

"Discrimination against Dalits still exists in rural areas in the private sphere, in ritual matters such as access to eating places and water sources.

It has largely disappeared, however, in urban areas and in the public sphere, in rights of movement and access to schools[2]. The earliest rejection of discrimination, at least in spiritual matters, was made as far back as the Bhagavada Gita, which says that no person, no matter what, is barred from enlightenment.

Even early Indian texts such as the Rig Veda discourage the abuse of outcastes. The text reads, “Indra, you lifted up the outcast who was oppressed, you glorified the blind and the lame.” (Rg-Veda 2:13:12)[3] There are an estimated 160 million Dalits in India."

Britain's prison system faces scrutiny this weekend over its treatment of ethnic minority prisoners as new evidence is revealed about how an Asian inmate was killed by his white cellmate. The inquest into the death of Shahid Aziz, 30, will pose new questions about the role of staff at Leeds prison and raise fresh concerns about overcrowding in Britain's jails. Aziz was murdered within minutes of being locked in the same cell as Peter McCann, who had twice been caught in possession of an object with a blade in the weeks before the killing and had attacked fellow inmates on two previous occasions. Despite his history of violence, McCann, 25, was considered a 'low risk' threat to other prisoners

Hilfiger never said that, it is just a rumour.

As for dalits, they are the people who are very contagious. In case if a Dailt touches you, you immediatley need to take a shower so as to remove the viruses, bacteria, pathogens etc that the dalit might have transferred to you. It is better to take a bath in the Ganges river so as to detoxify yourself if a Dalit touches you. Thats why Dalits are kept in quarantine. Even SARS is not as infectious as a Dalit.

So BEWARE

Jaunti Dalits are of the lowest class in the caste system prevalent in India. More commonly referred to as Untouchables.

If you mock them in India you are liable to be prosecuted.

Why does Tommy Hilfiger deserve backlash Mir if he says he never said that? He was rumoured to have said it on an Oprah Show. Oprah has said that he had never been on her show when these rumours started. It is false.

Let's face it, as an extremely successful businessman who sells the bulk of his clothes to non-whites, would he ever say that? It would be disastrous for sales.

angel_eyes, I would check your sources before composing threads like this. It is categorically untrue that Tommy Hilfiger ever said that. He had never even been on the Oprah Show at the time when these rumours started surfacing.

She invited him on to address the hateful rumours...you can find it on www.oprah.com

The show is called 'Memorable Guests and Setting It Straight'.
