Dear Friends,

Im in trouble, Just now i met with an accident at a roundabout in Al azizia, The guy was a sudani who drew a van. He suddenly stopped in side the roundabout. so i couldnt stopped i hit behind. So i stopped the car and accepted my mistake for hitting behind. So this guy asked me give money for repairing. I asked him how much and he said he doesnt know. The damage was very slight and negligable, But nothing happened to my car.

So i said we'll call the police but this guy said he's getting late. All of sudden he tried to grab my car keys almost hitting me. But i didnt let him do so i called police immidiately. So little later police came and talk with the guy in Arabic which i didnt understand a single word. So ultimately police asked me to come to Mamoura Police station tomorrow morning. After police left that guy said police has accepted my mistake and will have to pay a lot of money tomorrow. SO guys , As this was my first accident, i just want to know what will happen to me tomorrow, will i have to pay a big fine for that? Help me. Thanks in advance.

take Darude's suggestion, and the sudanese is just trying to scare you and milk your pocket. all in all you'll just have to pay 115 QR for the police report and stamp, and your insurance will do the rest :)

It's not scary .... this is a procedure police has to call both parties in the station and give the police papers and register their accident case in their system.. thas all !!

Be bold always even if you are at mistake !!

to issue accident reprot papers so that one of you can reapir your vehicle thru the insurance or directly from the garage ... since without police papers no insurance co or any garage in doha will accept to repair the car ... it is against the law.

Police officer in Maoura speaks english very well .... but better take someone who speak arabic incase he is not available .... if you don't find any there are other police staff who speak english and understand ... if you know Urdu or Hindi its a advantage since most of them speak urud  there !

Don't worry its just a minor case ... don't argue just accept the mistake (if you are at mistake) and close the chapter

Regarding car repair if you have comprehensive insurance your insurance company will cover the cost and may charge u some amount according to their terms and conditions ..  or if that sudani has comprehensive insurance still u need not to pay anything since his company will takecare of his car ! but if you both have third party insurance then sorry you have to repair his vehicle.

All the best

chandra i have faced this before.

tomorrow when you go to police station you have to pay 100 riyals as fine to the police as you have accepted this as your mistake.

as your car has no damage, you do not need to collect any papers from the cops for any repairs.the other person will get 2 papers, one for the workshop and another for the insurance company..

just take originals and photocopies of all your documents.if you take someone arabic speaking you will have peace of mind.

do it right - the first time!

you might in all probability need to pay the fine since you caused the accident. Don't know the exact figure but it should not be over 1000 qr if you haven't caused other offences like blocking traffic. Ignore the sudani and take somebody that speaks arabic along with you..

take some one arabic speaking with you

and he will explain it all for you to police.

you might just pay the fine because you hit him from behind.

not to worry i dont know coz i never did any but might be around 100-200 something. car repair will be done by the insurance company.

so take it easy
