Alumnar, I think you already know some about me now, I do stand for my opinions and beliefs. I dont mind any of the BSers I would really rather have stand by my own rather having a friend who would not respect my views that does not mean he/she should hail them too, and as I still can see myself am so damn proud of my nationality and believe it or not if I was born other than a Lebanese I would have claimed it and not by genes but simply by loving it.

And I would like to greet you over here and say happy Aniversary, and please give my best regards to your hubby and for the little angel.

Blood - it didn't take a bad turn. Your ideas and beliefs are yours, others think different or not - that is up to them! You can never please everybody, but always stand up for what you believe in. Trust me when I say I have been there and rather have people turning their back to me because they don't know how to deal with people who say what they think / feel, rather then me agreeing with their bulls*** attitudes and moral values. Always be strong and stand up for what you believe in :)

I am too proud too, just humans whom am talking about are the real ones, not everyone who can talk and debate is actually a human, you have to have human heart to be a human, wars poverty etc.... all of this are being created by non humans who looks like humans, I may say these are the aliens whom there was a thread about them recently. I got no problems with no one if he/she does not agree with me on a topic, on the contrary I might even admit a wrong way of thinking if convinced.

Blood, I am not arguing, only stating my opinion. I do not believe in "self praise" unless, of course, one has accomplishes something truly extraordinary. I have not done that, so far, to my knowledge.

Enthusiasm, most certainly! But I do not see where pride gets into that.

By Blood• 14 Sep 2010 22:58
Blood

I dont want to get into an argument with anyone, I just wanted to share an opinion with others, and wanted to read others opinions. No praise is better than thyself praise, and I meant to say with that sometimes humans need some enthusiasm in their lives.

Blood, your point is perfectly clear to me. I never thought you were degrading other nationalities and nobody accused you of doing that. I'm not even proud of being a human being as there is so much war, conflict and other bad things caused exactly BY human beings. Sorry but I'm not just gonna agree with you because you are my friend. Blood...I am "UNSECURED"...well, explain what that means, and I'll answer you.

Now, my roots, as in my parents, heritage.

My family has been in my country since the 1100's. They have accomplished quite a bit. Am I happy to be of that lineage? Sure, they did a good job. Although, that gives me the responsibility not to fall short of that heritage.

Am I proud of my nationality? No, why would I? As I said before, I have not done anything to achieve that nationality. And as I also said, I am, indeed, happy to be of my nationality.

By Blood• 14 Sep 2010 22:49
Blood

know what it seems that my point is not valid for so many people, thus am gonna let go for now, when I said am proud of my country, I did not mean to degrade any other's.

I am still proud of being a Lebanese and above all a human, and I think that matters a lot (being a human).

No Blood, I am not proud of my country. As long as a country has corruption, racism, poverty, discrimination between rich and poor, there is nothing to be proud about - and EVERY country has at least ONE of the above mentioned negative aspects. I have American friends whose patriotism makes me sick - because it is so over the top! But each their own and I respect that.

cool down, and your totally right you could be whatever you are, still you would be proud of having certain ancestors, and to tell you the truth it does not matter should you have a father or not for sure, but when you have a father whom might put your head in the mud, you'd rather not to mention him among your friends although each one's acts speaks for themselves. For the cool down it is just a discussion whether you like or not does not mean you have to be mean.

For you Ex that you know your roots, that is more than enough to make you proud of them, some of us dont even know who their father would be.

About being arrogant, I am not I was just asking people to praise themselves I clearly asked in my post to state your nationality and if your proud of it, in case your not it is up to you, I did not say in any case that you should like us, it is up to you, in case you do not like me, I will not ask you to, I would not mind a dime.

Rye I love my country and I am proud holding the nationality of it, that does not mean I have to disturb people with my beliefs whether it is religion my race or even my nationality, I am happy with what I am, and as I have stated recently that I am more (happy) Proud knowing and having multi nationals of friends.

@Khawaga, being from anywhere in the world is a good thing itself, knowing people from everywhere, is not unique for no one, it just made me more proud that I have people I can call FRIENDS from around the world. This is something i wanted to ask for a long period of time.

I understand you like your country. I actually like it too. But to be proud, you gotta have a logical reason. I am half Lebanese myself. But honestly, I am not proud at all. Don't get me wrong I like Lebanon a lot but i am actually disappointed in how my people fight and kill one another based on religion, How the Government plays people left and right and how there are no laws for the rich in this place. You just can not be proud of something for no reason and I hear Lebanese people more than any other nationality saying this "I am proud" thingy.

Lebanese people here in Qatar are not very true with themselves I find. They like to pretend they have so much money even when they are in debt. They still are well educated and sophisticated compared to the rest of Arabic nationals. Living abroad made me meet great Lebanese people who are extremely professional in what they do.

I am proud of what i achieved in my life and will be proud when my future kids and family does good in life as well, but i just can not be proud to have been BORN a certain nationality whether Leb, African, American, etc...

So please, Quit saying this phrase to make the rest of us proud of you, sell your BMW and pay your loan and start talking either Arabic, French , or English without mixing 3 languages in one sentence and of course Shop less for Levis 501 (many nicer cuts out there)

:)
