Hi all,

I am here on a residency visa, would like to know if I can use my Singapore's international driving licence as a temp licence while I get the local licence?

What's the procedure like converting my licence?

Hope to hear from you guroos soon...

The information is from Oasis rent-a-car agency, cross-checked with traffic department, as I had to go through the same process (didn't we all?).

Meanwhile you drive with international license. The counter starts only when you physically get Qatari ID, and the visa sticker in your passport. Mind you, the national license (no matter from what country) is valid for 7 days only, while international indefinitely.

Thanks Terramax

What about the time in between getting my passport chopped...You know going through the medicals, finger printing etc. That will take longer than 10 days before I even be able to get a Qatar ID. Meanwhile what do I do?

You actually have a very short time to change your licence. Something like 10 days from receivng your Qatari ID. Go to traffic department, and see if your national license is convertible. If not you'll have to take the test...or convince a big boss over there not to take it.
