I am dreading receiving a text from Red Pope
American teenagers facing charges over texting nude images
Teenagers in America are facing child pornography charges for 'sexting' - the latest high-tech craze which involved texting nude pictures of themselves to other teens.
Police and prosecutors are not amused by youngsters sending images of their private parts by mobile phone.
Sending nude self-portraits has landed two boys in Indiana in hot water with the authorities. One teenager has been charged with child pornography and the other with obscenity for sending a photo of his privates to female classmates.
In Pennsylvania three high school girls who sent semi-nude pictures and the four boys who received them were all charged with child pornography. All but one accepted a lesser misdemeanor to avoid an embarrassing trial – one boy's mother is considering fighting the case.
Dante Bertani, chief public defender in Westmoreland County, where the students went to court, called the felony charges "horrendous". He says such treatment should be reserved for sex offenders, not teenagers who might have used poor judgment, but meant nothing malicious.
"It should be an issue between the school, the parents and the kids and primarily the parents and the kids," says Mr Bertani. "It's not something that should be going through the criminal system."
In Utah the police have investigated 28 teenagers from five juniour high schools and three high schools for texting sexual images to friends.
In Ohio a 14-year-old girl who sent racy shots to classmates faced sex charges. The charges were dropped after she agreed to a curfew, gave up her cell phone and said she would use the internet only when supervised for three months.
Parents who defend the teenagers say it is the modern way to flirt and is harmless fun.
One school social counselor disagreed: "The problem is it doesn't just go to that person, but that person sends it to another person and then a rumor mill starts and it causes a lot of problems and heartaches for a lot of students when all that gets out. I think they need to think about what they're doing and think about the consequences."
Michael McAlexander, a prosecutor in Allen County, Indiana, said : "Hopefully we'll get the message out to these kids. We don't want to throw these kids in jail. But we want them to think about what they are doing."

In this case I really think the government is over-reacting, there are other things that can be done to curb this besides ruining these kids lives.
to go down to the level of idiocy of these teen-agers? Who is the real idiot? No offense meant! Lol!!!!!!!!!!

This forum is sparking with anecdotes of experiences..
That's teenage culture. Regardless of race, culture or religion teenagers around the world are idiots with too many hormones.
just asking? Not complaining, though! Lol!

I didn't realise they had "bike sheds" in Canada ..
Probably Brit.
I was known to flash my assets on a dare. :p
I think you may have opened yourself up to a rash of PMs and SMS's :)
reminds funny anecdote from my life........
I went to a friends sleep over when I was twelve, now those that know me know that have have some pretty impressive assets and back then they were slightly smaller but not by much, anyway while mucking around a friend pulled up my top just as another happened to take a snapshot..needless to say that Monday the photo went around the entire 6th grade like wild fire...

If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride

I know lots of 14 year old boys who would have done this, hell I know guys in their 30's who would have done it.
As for girls, some girls do it to be cool. I probably would have done it.
I must admit that in my case the answer would be a definite NO!
OK, i can perhaps understand boys doing this as a means of showing off, but girls ???
Come boys and girls (especially boys!) would you not have been tempted to do something similar if you were 14?
child phonography is severe a case against the kids. after all, they are minors, not of mature minds. i think to be penalized are the parents, though,hehehe.. did u not noticed that parents nowadays are getting weirder and weirder?. before, when you hear the word "parents", it conjure up images of strict, disciplinarian, upright and respectable species. but now, laughingstock is one good word to describe them. that, and stupid.
So you would be comfortable if your child did this ?
THEIR JUST NAUGTHY NOT THE PARENTS...
Or, maybe they aren't what they're "cracked up" to be....
So, they will just fade away...far, far away.
I must admit sharing the pics of one's private parts with the world seems a bit of a drastic act as an attention getter.
I'm sure many will regret it in a few years time.
How, pray tell, will they "crack" the case?
I mean, if you've seen one "crack," you've seen them all. Right?
Lol! Nice one, RP.

The news article said:
"The problem is it doesn't just go to that person, but that person sends it to another person and then a rumor mill starts and it causes a lot of problems and heartaches for a lot of students when all that gets out. I'm not going to start the rumor mill, but I heard some nasty comments of people in QL lately. Two guys are under suspicion of sharing pictures of intimate parts.
One of them, who uses, one particular avatars resembling a wolf. The other person, an Engineer, who is baldheaded and from the UK.
The names keeps going on and on, I'm just stating the captains of the naked Photo cartel.
They all like to exchange pictures of the rear anatomy. Specially where the sun is not shining at all.
After a detail and persistent investigation, all initial leads, direct to a "big fish" responsible of the network of photo sharing.
All leads are Vinculated to some guy who drives a pink KIA....
PS
All persons portrayed in this posting are presume to be innocent , until proven guilty in a court of law.
...with the assault of media nudity,it's natural for them to be inclined towards getting involved. IMO this is just their naive way of expressing their eagerness to join the band of seemingly cool yuppies.

I wouldn't call it "harmless" fun but I wouldn't call it child pornography either. I can understand the parents being upset with the charges, I wouldn't want my child being charged with being a sex offender (which means that they go on a database for the rest of their lives and in many states their neighbours will be notified that a sex offender has moved into the vicinity) when the only thing their guilty of is being stupid teenagers.

eventually...
Modern day to flirt? ahahaha... Funny it seems.
So if for example I want to flirt with you, I have to send a picture of me on things like those? naaahhh, I would rather not flirt. lol
The parents, once again, come to the rescue of their Bad Billies and Silly Sallies---sad, but true.
They need to listen to the counselor.
Parents are clueless because unless their "angels" suffer real consequences, they will not learn their lesson.
No ethics no standards, nothing. What a $hyt-whole this world has become.
"Parents who defend the teenagers say it is the modern way to flirt and is harmless fun." -- im reading this with raised eyebrows... :/
I think there is plenty of concern, and I am sure these young ladies and gents will get a good talking-to and grounding at home! But I understand parents who want it to remain private within a family, and deal with it within a family, instead of dragging it through the courts and make it a public affair.
Also, it IS sort of a harmless fun, except of course if the receiving parties didn't ask for the pics in the first place.
in "some" or in general of the west? Just asking!

I too was surprised at the parents' lack of concern. A sad reflection on our society today!
There are parents who defend this?
Harmless fun????
Unbelievable.
Being a man of the cloth, perhaps he'll onl;y send a picture of his sceptre.
