Hypocracy

optimist

Hypocrite

hyp·o·crite

–noun - a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.

Examples
1. A simple kiss for example in an episode of Friends will be removed however - you actively encourage "experimental" homosexuality amongst your male teens to maintain an image of righteousness
2. You preach family values and yet you let your youngsters ride in the front seat of a speeding vehicle totally unhindered by that annoying seatbelt.

Just a couple of observations that I am sure have been noted before.

While I strongly believe that the best of the westerners are the very best in the world, and the rest of the world has many things to learn from them, what I see in here from a part of the fellow westerners criticizing the oriental culture, probably represents merely the low grade people of the said geography. While they should be grateful what this country provides for them, and learn the different magnitude of culture & diversity, they are very quick to make comments without being sensitive enough to the culture or having enough knowledge of that or seeing the bigger picture. If someone doesn’t have the capability to appreciate the good things in other culture, he/she should not exercise the right to criticize other culture as well, because this would only create discord and not be helpful or constructive in any way.

stealth, it's alright... the OP did wrong and he's probably the most hypocrite of all and a sore loser but it's totally pointless to say that for some or many is only dead wrong when US or Britons are insulted.

That no one says anything bad about US or Brits? Well, I've seen many anti-USA threads on this site. The focal point should be Qatar-specific discussions and many would use this forum to talk smack and trash about westerners.

the Qataris had a go at the idiots on this site. There are plenty of them.

The Qataris who regularly post on this site all have several things in common:

1. They are always polite

2. They always have something of interest to say

3. They can all write well in good English

4. They never lower themselves to the level of those who so tastelessly criticize them.

What does that say about the Qataris?

First you insult Qataris and then say its all in light banter. What do you mean by that. Thats the easiest reason you can give to justify yourselves. Thats all.

MAny in this thread were on to byrd whatever and others for being insulting and threatening. Now what do you see over here?

When it hurts the euraopeans/americans its downright disgusting . When they take on everyone else its all in lighter vein. Now thats hypocrisy in the truest sense.

i think the english spell it the same as the rest of us (hypocrite), it's just one of those words that many people get wrong.

which is why if you're going to get sarcastic with someone who posts something you don't like, you should use an online dictionary to make sure you know what you're talking about (maybe next time Stealth?).

as a general rule, canadians tend to spell things like the brits and say them like the americans.

The word is Hypocrisy in American English. Don't know about English English but I guess it is "hypocracy". No idea what it is in Canadian or Australian English.

i know a homosexual here in cairo and he says that young egyptian men proposition him all the time.

it's pretty rampant here too, but as mentioned above, it has more to do with not being able to experiment with young women.

kind of like what you see from the young people in the US who say they will not have sex until they are married, but then go off and have oral and anal sex (because that doesn't count), and end up getting more STDs than their peers because they engage in high risk sexual activities and don't learn how to use condoms properly since they "don't have" sex.

people always find a way, especially in this area.

optimist did spell hypocrite correctly.

one thing i've noticed from many egyptians (i'm living in cairo at the moment)... "all things said in the Koran about respecting others and telling the truth only applies to non-muslims. this means it is acceptable for me to lie to you mr fancy pants canadian, and yes i will grab your wife's a$$ while i'm at it, thank you very much. if you'll excuse me i have to go pray now."

If somebody didn't spell properly you could call them:

ignorant,

absent minded,

distracted,

foreigner,

uneducated,

careless,

etc. etc.

not hypocrite!

And what's "hypcisy" anyway :D

When you cant spell hypcisy itself properly, it shows that person who started the thread itself could be defined as one??

Well it looks like hypocrites are only in qatar. The biggest hypocrites are the expats in Qatar who think they know everything and they are the best of all.

Ok, well there are many hypocritical aspects to this society I think it's a bit harsh to say they encourage their male teens to practice homosexuality. That's not the case at all. Well homosexuality is rampent here I think it's more or less a result of the segregation of the sexes and not because it's being forced on them.

By FatherTed• 4 Mar 2007 20:46

do qatari's promote homosexuality to their teens???
