Human Rights Committee - anybody had success?

Hey,

I'm presently battling with my wife's former company here to allow her to re-enter Qatar.

Before we wed, we each had individual sponsorships. My wife resigned from her job, and we got married overseas.

When I returned to Qatar I submitted our papers to immigration via my company, and after 5 weeks I was told me wife's previous sponsor had blocked her from entering Qatar under any type of visa.

Despite speaking to senior management within her previous company, I'm getting nowhere.

I have been told my next option is the Human Rights Committee.

Has anybody been here to try and have an issue resolved? Did it work?

Any guidance appreciated. Cheers.

Hi Everyone,

I recently experience verbal harassment in my Company. Unfortunately, the management doesn't seem to care about employee pride and respect as individual. The HR director shouted at me in full blast outside my office letting his voice heard. He said he doesn't like my email which is actually offering my assistance to everyone who needs my support in administration task which I am certainly good at. He threw the printed email on my face and shouted with a loud voice " If your boss can't fire you I will!! I TOOK YOU FROM THE STREET WHEN U WERE GOING AROUND LOOKING FOR JOB!!!!" .... I felt really shameful as he treated me as if I'm some kind of fly by night lady or a dog. I worked in this company because of my credentials that my direct boss happens to see suitable for the job. This HR Director actually is power tripper as what everyone told me and doing some indecent acts with others yet nobody have the guts to report because our Company Corporate Office is not that established when it comes to employee rights. Can somebody please advise me where and how to handle this matter?

hi there. I also have a problem with employer because he is withholding my request for NOC and he wants to get my passport. He said if I will not give my passport, he will take action against me. Since I already resigned from the company because I was pregnant and have health problem due to smoking in the office, and since he told me to get a replacement, I assumed my resignation was accepted and I trained my replacement for two weeks. I was not given my two months salary and now he is doing some harassment like shouting and the latest, getting my passport before he gives me NOC. He is not my sponsor but I worked for him as secretary. Now, he does not want me to talk to the sponsor because he said I am not employed under that sponsor but under his company. I received an email yesterday that if I will not go to office, he will take action. how come that my visa is already 2 months expired and he needs my passport and threatens to take action against me. THAT IS WHY I NEEDED TO GO TO HUMAN RIGHTS TO FILE A COMPLAINT. I DONT CARE ABOUT THE SALARY ANYMORE, JUST THE NOC BECAUSE MY KIDS AND HUSBAND IS WITH ME HERE. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!

For those that are interested, I wrote to the Minister of Interior. he approved, and instructed CEID to remove her from the blacklist. she is now with me here in Doha.

It took 4 months to sort it, but worth the wait!

There are 2 Human Rights offices in Qatar. The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) is located near Jaidah Tower, NBK intersection, behind the Teyseer petrol station. They offer good advice but I have never tested their ability to take action.

It's better to go to the Human rights dept. of the Ministry of Interior. This is located on Al Markhiya Street near Jassim bin Hamad School. They helped me out a lot. Try them and good luck!

U can go Human Rights Committee, but really it is west of time sometime . Because they will send request to the company if company not answer they will send again and again, then if ur not follow up they will just let go slow. In this moment u need to go to the company ur wife work for and ask them to take out black list otherwise no one can help u. In Human Rights Committee u need to write all story about what happen in this company and what is the reason ur wife left the company if u can get marriage her in Qatar.

If ur wife does not have any grave case with her previous sponsor u can go to human rights and complain. Just emphasize to them the importance of having ur family here.
