The honest truth about driving licenses

Does anyone know the truth about how long you can drive on an international driving permit or another GCC license? I was told the other day it is just a week. I have been here a week and haven't used my privelege, have I lost out or what? I can take it let the truth roll...

I drive on mine as every visa run i have done the 6 months starts again! But when i put in for mine there was two choices and one of them you could not drive over here on!

You can drive on an international driving license for 6 months. The one week rule applies to driving licenses from other countries. For example, if you want to drive on a US or UK license, you can only drive for a week. However, the international driving license is good for 6 months. There is also the other option of getting a temporary Qatari license. Look in Marhaba for the regulations on that. I am not sure about other GCC licenses, but I think that they are good here.
