Woman ‘shot dead at hospital’Published: Tuesday, 19 June, 2007, 02:10 AM Doha Time

Staff Reporter
A MAN shot his wife to death in the maternity ward of HMC’s Women’s hospital early Sunday morning, according to unconfirmed reports yesterday.
The woman had given birth at the hospital only a couple of days before, sources said.
“The man came to the hospital after Saturday midnight, took his wife to the bathroom and shot her there.
“The shooting went unnoticed for some time and the incident came to the attention of the housekeeping staff when one of them noticed blood coming out of the bathroom,” a source said.

"How did this guy get a firearm in Qatar."

But my concern now is the baby.

It will be a lifetime psychological pain for him to know later that his mother was killed by his father right after his delivery. Poor baby!

Many people have private firearms here...kalashnikovs, etc. Sometimes they use them to fire in the air as a celebratory gesture at weddings. A lot of people hunt too.

i can't say anything now ... but i imagine the poor woman must be terrified knowing that the man that should protect her and her kids doing the opposite.

I wonder we will read the up date of this matter ???

This is really an avoidable tragedy.

Security at the hospital should start screening everybody who enters the premises, henceforth.

It is very sad to know all this. But world has become heartless every where now. They dont have feelings for anyone now. All this are the signs for the day of judgement.

Bloodshed everywhere. Why cant we all love each other????

Front page news. There is no mention of why??, neither the nationality.

This is really sad.

I was under the impression that private firearms are not allowed in Qatar and they have to be kept with concerned government authorities. That is the reason why, the private security agencies in Qatar are without side arms.

What a completely avoidable tragedy. The poor mother and her children. He should have shot himself instead of her.

yes, a Qatari friend told me about this but we have no idea why.

apparently he already had a shed load of children with his wife. Maybe 9 or something.

So a lot of kiddies no longer have their mother - how sad.

No human has the right to take another’s life. I feel sorry for the family of the woman.

Even if the baby is not his..he dont have to kill her. He can divorce her.

What will be the fate of the baby!

There are firearms available in Qatar.

Question is why did he do so??

Or was it that the baby was not HIS??
